Like we’ve said on many occasions, you either love her or you hate her. Seeing how “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” is such a big project, we’re gonna assume this is Lily Cole’s breakthrough role as she scored the lead female. She plays ‘Valentina,’ Doctor Parnassus’ daughter.
Anyway, one reason why a lot of people are gonna go watch this film is simply because this is the late-Heath Ledger’s final role. He passed away only one-third into the movie’s production and various transformations were portrayed by Hollywood big-dogs like Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell.
Here’s more info on this freaked-out, soon to be epic:
In the present day, the immortal thousand-year-old Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) leads a travelling theatre troupe—including a sleight of hand expert, Anton (Andrew Garfield), and a dwarf, Percy (Verne Troyer)—that offers audience members a chance to go beyond reality through a magical mirror in his possession.
Doctor Parnassus is able to guide the imagination of others through a thousand-year-old bargain with the Devil (Tom Waits), who had also granted him immortality with the understanding that any daughters born to Parnassus would belong to him once they reached the age of sixteen. With his new powers Parnassus eventually took on the life of a sort of itinerant showman and sage offering to an increasingly skeptical world the wonders and power of imagination as experienced through the magical mirror guided by his own mind when in a meditative state. After more than nine centuries Parnassus fell in love with a woman he noticed on a street and the Devil granted him back his youth so that he might woo and marry her. This he did, eventually producing a daughter, Valentina (Lily Cole). [Source]
