More From “Casa De Mi Padre” Premiere: Genesis Rodriguez, Patricia De Leon & Will Ferrell

Genesis Rodriguez deserves some more love, so figured we’d revisit the big “Casa De Mi Padre” premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood earlier this week. I sat through Will Ferrell’s seemingly painful interview with Jimmy Kimmell & couldn’t come to terms with how Will & his partners decided to drop $6 million making a film that should’ve been an online short or DVD release, at best. But a full-on on 84 minute, Spanish-language theatrical release is pretty absurd & that’s coming from a dude has nothing but love for the comedic genius. If any of you watch it, please do chime in with a review.

Here’s more juice:

Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father’s ranch in Mexico his entire life. As the ranch encounters financial difficulties, Armando’s younger brother Raul (Diego Luna), shows up with his new fiancée, Sonia (Génesis Rodríguez). It seems that Raul’s success as an international businessman means the ranch’s troubles are over as he pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legitimate, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael García Bernal). Also, Will Ferrell was on Kimmel doing some promotional work (assuming you have the patience, there’s also part two & three):

Damn, who is Patricia De Leon?

I'm diggin' the curves.

Me and Genesis (pronounced Heh-ne-ses) go way back. I've been watchin' her a while.

It's actually weird to hear her speak English after all these years of watching her speak Spanish.

Oh, I thought that was Demi Lovato's older, chunkier, plastic surgery-riddled sister.

"A product as cheap, empty and worth of a good beating as a piñata."

"Really, Casa de mi Padre is a skit blown up to a feature flick, amusing for a while until its welcome wears out."

"As a full-length feature, "Casa" is simply a funny concept that starts to go stale around the 10-minute mark."

Oh look another shitty Will Ferrell movie. He's jewish right? It would explain it.
