Coming slightly late to the award show party, the Empire Film Awards went down over the weekend, courtesy of Britain’s biggest selling film publication, Empire Magazine. The big winner of the night was “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” which took home Best Thriller, Best Actor (for Gary Oldman) and Best British Film. The Best Film of the year went to “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part Two,” which also won Best Director for David Yates, while Olivia Colman took Best Actress for her astonishing turn in “Tyrannosaur.”
Also, we should note that Michael Fassbender was honored with the Empire Hero Award, so it’s nice to see that the dude finally got some love for his work in “Shame.” It sucks that an actor can sacrifice so much on the big screen & then be completely ignored by the industry. I’m tell you, if you replace Michael Fassbender’s “Shame” character with sex-addicted Angelina Jolie, she’ll get showered with every award known to man.
