No one saw these conference finals playing out like they are right now. In a matter of one week the Celtics joined the Thunder to completely change the landscape of these playoffs. Behind Kevin Garnett’s intensity, the Celtics out-hustled the Miami Heat to take game 5 (94-90) and a 3-2 lead in the series. Don’t look at the box score if you want to find out what happened between these two teams last night. Miami was looking like they were going to have a smooth ride as the Celtics looked flat early but Boston simply hung around by winning all the hustle plays. Aside from Paul Pierce’s huge 3 (pictured above) I thought the biggest play of the game was this:
Two amazing plays from both teams but Rondo’s coming second stops what would’ve been huge momentum in favor of the Heat. Wade and James both had good games but the lack of support from the rest of the team wasn’t enough to counter what Boston was doing. The momentum is completely in favor of Boston as they head home and try to clinch their spot in finals. What will the Heat do now that they’re against the ropes?
Game 5: San Antonio Spurs at Oklahoma City Thunder
9:00ET (OKC leads 3-2)
Oklahoma City is not taking this game lightly. This is the biggest game in the history of their franchise and they have all the momentum. Can the Spurs do anything to stop that? San Antonio’s non-stars need to make big plays if they plan on pushing this to a game 7. Have the Thunder figured out how to handle the Spurs offense? It certainly looks that way but don’t count out a veteran team like the Spurs just yet.
Also, just in case you haven’t seen this yet:
