All’s Not Well On the Set of Johnny Depp’s “Lone Ranger” Remake

“It’s out of control, but if you were going to bet on anyone, it would be on Gore, Johnny and Jerry.”[The Hollywood Reporter]

The Mouse House is angry! At Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski for delaying their remake of The Lone Ranger and for forcing the studio to up the $215 million budget to a reported $250 million and beyond.

For those who aren’t aware, the ambitious project reunites Depp in the leading role with his Pirates of the Caribbean director. The production of the film (which co-stars Armie Hammer as Tonto) has been plagued with problems since it started shooting February 28 in New Mexico.

Part of the problem has been staying on schedule, with the film apparently running weeks behind and crucial scenes requiring reshooting. Rewrites and scene cuts are being ordered by Disney, which is Hollywood speak for “CODE RED”!

The film is slated to release July 13, 2013. Will The Lone Ranger make it to the finish line?
