Ladies and gentlemen we have ourselves a series in the NBA Finals! The Miami Heat held off a furious Thunder rally late in the game to take the victory 100-96 and tie things up at 1-1. It had the feelings of a classic NBA postseason game: one team off to a hot start, the other rallying, foul trouble everywhere, great/lucky plays and the occasional hard foul. Also, because this is the NBA, this game could not be complete without a controversial play at a very key moment in the game. What’s your take on the last shot that Durant had? It was play that has been shown too many times around sports networks. LeBron appeared to have made contact on Durant but a call was not made. You have to remember that officials don’t have instant replay at their fingertips. Instant replay allows fans to see things repeatedly/slowly and I think that makes any foul look worse than it actually is.
Miami was on fire from the start, racing out to an 18-2 lead in the first quarter and held a double digit lead for pretty much the entire first half and most of the 3rd quarter. The Heat played great defense and forced the Thunder into some bad shots but the Thunder also missed some shots they usually make. It wasn’t until the 4th quarter that Oklahoma City started knocking down shots and started their rally. The Heat cooled off a little but they made the shots necessary to eventually fight what was a crazy 4th quarter from their opponents. Once again LeBron wasn’t lighting it up in the 4th but he did have a huge, very difficult bank shot at a key moment along with a couple clutch free throws to seal the game. I’ll be expecting great things as the series heads down to Miami for three straight. Anyone else starting to get the feeling that this is going all the way to game 7?
