The project is said to be titled The Grand Budapest Hotel and will mark the filmmaker’s first time shooting in Europe.[THR]
We all know Johnny Depp likes his filmmakers a bit, well, out there (see: Tim Burton) but now he’s going for a less sinister version of weird and opting for the whimsically offbeat by agreeing to star in Wes Anderson’s next movie which will be called The Grand Budapest Hotel. No prizes for guessing which European city it will be set it.
The ensemble cast is said to include Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Angela Lansbury.
With Moonrise Kingdom being the rare critically acclaimed movie that has made a good deal of profit (almost $50 million, at last count), we’re anxious to see if Anderson can maintain his artistic integrity without too much pressure to commercialize by the studio. That’s what happens when you get big stars . . .
