Turns out that being the major star of a movie that grossed almost $700 million worldwide helps when it comes to negotiating your salary for the sequel. Jennifer Lawrence, who stars as Katniss in The Hunger Games, is on track to scoring a $10 million payday for the sequel, which for the math nerds out there would be 20 times what she was paid for the original when she made $500,000 plus bonuses. Lawrence was locked into a four-film deal with the producing company Lionsgate, though whether that will remain intact after negotiations remains to be seen. Her male co-stars, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, received raises as well for the sequel, but nothing like what Lawrence (the marquee star) is negotiating.

Katniss is supposed to be really thin and lithe looking. It's called "The Hunger Games" and let's be honest...Jennifer Lawerence doesn't look hungry.
That being said, $10mil...bitch, please. They could get any one of the girls from Games of Thrones to do it for 1/10th of what you're asking and they wouldn't be whining about how fame is going to ruin their lives, either. If I were her, I would keep really quiet, go for about $3mil and do another X-Men prequel. Or just flat out get a contract with Marvel and do a bunch of their movies.
I don't think she was anything special in the movie, easily replaceable. Not that I blame her for renegotiating, I'm just saying if they get a new girl as lead I will still go see it. Personally I don't think she looked anything like how she's described in the books.

We'll find out if it's excessive if they find another actress to do it. Otherwise, it's the fair market price -- the amount a willing buyer will pay to a willing seller of property or services.
Well, she can actually act..If people like Kristen Stewart and Rob can get that kind of bank, she should be able to as well.
