I guess this is further proof that the breakup is mostly Hollywood-scripted bullshit drama to help keep the two up & coming stars in the spotlight while building buzz to help sell magazines and drive traffic to entertainment sites (excluding this website, I course).

Lovi Poe & Mercedes Cabral @ “Thy Womb” at Venice Film Festival

Thy Womb (Sinapupunan in Tagalog) is the upcoming film starring Bembol Roco, Mercedes Cabral, and Lovi Poe. The film is in contention for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, unlike the soon-to-be classic Spring Breakers. Look for Thy Womb to also show at the Toronto International Film Festival later this month.

The film is about a Badjao midwife coping with the irony of her own infertility amid the deprivations of her gypsy community in Tawi-Tawi. A saga of island life stuck between the devil of passion and the deep blue sea of tradition. [Wiki]

Cowboys upset Giants in NFL season opener

Football is back baby! For Cowboys fans, such as myself, it couldn’t have happened in a more exciting fashion. Last night the Dallas Cowboys beat the defending SB champion New York Giants 24-17 in their own turf to kick off the 2012 NFL season. Most football fans around the country expected the Giants to win, rightfully so because this was the first time in 9 years that the defending champion loses at home in a mid-week kick off game. Both teams looked a bit shaky to start the game, failing to score during the 1st quarter but by halftime both teams were showing life on offense. The Giants didn’t play that bad but they made mistakes at crucial times, a couple of dropped passes and a fumble kept them from advancing promising scoring drives. For the Giants it was just one of those games that they’d like to have back.

The Cowboys on the hand, overcame penalties and an early interception thrown by Tony Romo to take the first victory of the season. Aside from the interception, Romo had an excellent game (22-29, 307 yds, 3 TDs) and was able to make plays down the field. Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had a strong second half but the story for the Cowboys was the performance of breakout wide receiver Kevin Ogletree (pictured above) last night. The Cowboys weren’t even sure who their 3rd receiver would be during the preseason but after Ogletree’s performance (8 rec, 114 yds, 2TDs) I think it’s safe to say that he’s earned that starting role. In the second half the Cowboys put together drives that kept the Giants offense and their play makers off the field because no matter what, Eli Manning (21-32, 213 yds, 1TD) always has a chance of coming back.

This game is just a taste of what’s to come this season. What can we hope to see from the rest of the NFL teams this weekend and this season? The first Sunday is only days away. I’m SO glad that the National Football League is BACK!

These were snapped last night as supermodel Candice Swanepoel was spotted out in NYC hitting up a pre-NY Fashion Week party. The Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week officially kicks off today and runs through September 13. Candice & her supermodel friends will definitely be out in the city later this evening celebrating Fashion’s Night Out. It’s the event’s fourth anniversary & it typically involves all those connected to fashion industry (editors, designers, models, etc), as well celebrities & socialites flooding stores in big cities across the country & world for a celebration of fashion. Should be great, but literally impossible to cover.

There are just way too many events tonight (MTV VMAs tonight, as well!) & over the next couple weeks, so let’s hope we can keep our shit together & filter through all the junk to shine the light on the hottest goodies.

Jason Biggs Tweets About RNC Land Him In Trouble

“Fox News host Megyn Kelly called Biggs a “disgusting pig” Wednesday and questioned why Nickelodeon continued to employ him.”[THR]

Jason Biggs used to be a rising star in Hollywood (or at least a younger, cuter version of Adam Sandler). Those days are apparently gone now with Biggs landing himself in hot water for tweets made during the RNC last week where he made less than gentlemanly comments about Ann Romney and Janna Ryan. He released via his Twitter account – which was apparently linked to Nickelodeon’s Twitter account as he is voicing Leonardo in their upcoming live action movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – the following:

On Janna Ryan: “I’d totes dip a pinky or two in Paul Ryan’s wife’s bleached asshole (she obvs bleaches her asshole.) #RNC”

He also recently posted such tweets as:

“I really gotta keep my dick in my pants.” and “My wife @jennyandteets having sexual relations w my sister. Normal? #weekendfun”
