A singing and dancing Hugh Jackman couldn’t do it. Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin together couldn’t do it. Anne Hathaway and James Franco definitely couldn’t do it. Billy Crytsal? Whoopi Goldberg? Ellen DeGeneres? Don’t even. So what’s the Oscar Telecast’s annual attempt to increase viewership and make the biggest awards show in Hollywood relevant again? Why, ask the guy who created Family Guy, of course!
With Seth MacFarlane apparently everywhere these days, it makes sense that his name should make the short list, though I’m still kinda surprised he said yes. Will you be interested in seeing him share the stage with such luminaries as Sydney Portier and Helen Mirren? Is he going to introduce Meryl Streep in Stewie’s voice? Is this a stroke of genius or a disaster waiting to happen?
Check out a recent interview where he essentially says that the only reason he was asked at all was because he happened to be outside the Academy’s office when they were bandying names around. I don't believe he has the resume to host the oscars. To tell you the truth, I really don't care.
Seth isn't just a voiceover guy, he's a creator of shows and movies.
Doesn't mean he's a good choice, but give him some credit.
The Oscars aren't some skeevy Friar's Club Roast. That's Seth's niche.
This is desperate. You might know who he is but I guarantee that 90% of the people who watch on TV or are in the auditorium won't have any idea. Using a voiceover guy is like having the late Mel Blanc (google him) hosting the Oscars BITD. Stupid idea.

The guy can sing, take the perfect shots & he has more money than most of the people in the room, so it should be very interesting to see what kind of material he conjures up...
Just thought I'd add one more pointless comment so I can work my way toward the next $50 prize.
It's going to be hilarious I think, I may watch this year. They'll probably regret hiring him, though, he's going to offend.

I think Seth is on a rocketship ride right now. After paying his dues in the animation racket, people are finally getting a fix on how talented and charming he is. I think we might be looking at the formation of a brand new big star here. I hope it works out for him. If he is successful as host, he will be unstoppable.
