Just like most Thursday night games, this one featured some not-so-great teams but they were pretty evenly matched to the point that the game came down to a last second field goal. After the Steelers missed a late field goal, the Titans took advantage of great field position and to take the victory 26-23 on a FG as time expired. This game was interesting because throughout the game both teams were trying to establish some sort of rhythm but as soon one got going, the other team was able to find a way to score. The difference in this game came on the part of the Steelers inevitability to keep getting injured, already stacked with injuries and continuing to suffer even more injuries throughout the game. It proved to be too much for QB Roethlisberger and the rest of the offense. It’s also fair to criticize their head coach Mike Tomlin for deciding to attempt the field goal, risking what resulted in excellent field position for the Titans. Titans took advantage of the opportunities and hey, is that Chris Johnson actually looking like a running back? Sure he doesn’t look like “CJ2K” or whatever his nickname is supposed to be but at least he had a good game (93 rush yds, 23 pass) compared to the abysmal season he’s been having. If the Steelers plan on making the playoffs they must win on the road, something they haven’t been able to do this season.

I must admit that this football game didn’t have my undivided attention (crazy, I know) but I was flipping channels between this game and the two baseball playoffs that were going on. I’ll have some stuff on that this weekend and the coming week as we near the World Series plus, can’t forget that NBA pre-season is set to get underway. Stay tuned, got big plans! As the NFL hits 1/3 of the season, i’d like to point out some key things that i’m looking for this weekend and as the season goes on. I’m strangely confident in my Cowboys this weekend. A combination of the bye week, Romo always plays great after a terrible game and add that the Ravens have struggled against bad teams these past couple of weeks. Or maybe I just need to take my Cowboys goggles off. It’s one of many great games this Sunday that include Lions at Eagles, Patriots at Seahawks, Giants at 49ers and it all ends with Packers at Texans. We’re going to learn so much about these teams. Looking forward to this weekend.

Completely whiffed on my pick from last week but this Sunday i’m confident taking the Giants AT 49ers (-6.5) to be a VERY close game. Giants as an underdog on the road by nearly a TD? I’ll take that every single time.
