Read or not, but the “Skyfall” multi-city red carpet premiere extravaganza just kicked off with what they’re calling the “Royal World Premiere” held at Royal Albert Hall in London earlier today. Along w/ the two new Bond girls Berenice Marlohe & Naomie Harris, we’re throwing in Kelly Brook and judging by the pics, it’s fairly obvious that Kelly’s holding her own very well in the presence of the beautiful actresses. It’s a pity she didn’t get an opportunity at the whole Bond girl gig, but hey, there’s still time!!

Let’s move forward w/ our regular protocol of sharing the plot, trailers & cast interviews that we’ll repeat with each premiere as they hit other cities around the globe ahead of the film’s release in the US on November 9.

When an operation in Istanbul ends in disaster, James Bond is missing and presumed to be dead, and the identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked onto the internet. In the aftermath, questions are raised over M’s ability to run the Secret Service, and she becomes the subject of a government review over her handling of the situation. When the service itself is attacked, Bond’s sudden reappearance gives M the pretext she needs to seek out Raoul Silva, a dangerous villain claiming a personal connection to both of them – but as he follows a trail from London to the South China Sea, Bond soon finds his loyalty to M challenged over secrets from her past. Rehashing the 7th week of this NFL season

I decided to take a different approach as to what I write on here. Normally i’d just recap whatever happened over the weekend, giving a few opinions here and there but that seemed to bland. That sort of thing can be found anywhere online and even though there are hundreds of thousand of sports blogs, i’d like to be as original as possible. I’m just going to go through a few main questions, trying to post about the same topics but with a slightly different view.

Performances of the week: Take into account what Chris Johnson has done prior to week 7. For him to go from THAT to this week’s performance (195 yds, 2 TDs) gives him the crown for this week. Dare we say, is CJ2K back to normal form? Let’s not too excited because he was facing the Bills who are in a close battle with the Saints for the worst defense in the league. Speaking of the Saints, they traded shots during a shootout with the Buccaneers. As a result, their QBs Freeman (420 yds, 3 TDs) and Brees (377 tds, 4 TDs) both had a great games. Yes, I know Bucs receiver Vincent Jackson, who is on my fantasy team, had an insane game (216 yds, 1 TD) but he was run down by a guy who was about 50 yards away on a 95 yard run. Let’s get a little most hustle next time Jackson. Last player I have to mention is RG3 because he’s so incredible to watch. This past Sunday Griffin almost out-Eli’d Eli Manning on the road! As a Cowboys fan it makes me very nervous looking forward to the games against the Redskins.

Who are the top 5 teams in the league? For obvious reasons the Falcons lead the way (until they get beat, they’re going to be on top) the Bears are a close second (that defense makes teams work for every single yard that they gain) with a similar team, the Texans (destroying the Ravens was a statement to prove they’re a the best in the AFC) and even though both teams are 5-2, i’m putting the Giants slightly ahead of the 49ers because of their head-to-head match up they just completed a couple of weeks ago. The Ravens (5-2) still lead their division but they look absolutely lost after the injuries they faced on their defense. I still need to see more from the Vikings (5-2) before I put them among the elite and they can do that on Thursday when they face the Buccaneers.

The NFL is visiting Europe this Sunday: This weekend the New England Patriots will square off against the St. Louis Rams inside the historic Wembley Stadium located in London, England. Am I the only one what sees the irony in sending the Patriots to play in England? Anyways, it should be an interesting game because the Patriots are coming off a performance where they almost blew a double-digit lead at home to a divisional rival. The Rams are a frisky team that always keeps games close as seen last week against a Packers team that seems to be on fire now.

“Iron Man 3″ Trailer Reveals Darker Tone for Franchise

We saw the teaser yesterday, but the official trailer is now out! Iron Man 3 looks to follow the lead of other superhero franchises like Dark Knight and The Amazing Spider-Man by taking its hero into darker territory, especially where the villainous Mandarin (played by Sir Ben Kingsley) is concerned.

He gets the best line of the trailer: “Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher,” he affirms. “Lesson number one: Heroes: there is no such thing.”

Weigh in with your thoughts: do you like the trailer? Are you more excited to see the third one than you were the last two?

Chasing Mavericks: Film Review

Visit the film’s official website!

Movies about young men seeking out older (generally fallen) men to help them with personal endeavors invariably become about the relationship between the two characters, and typically veer off to show the audience that what matters is not the initial goal but what happens outside of its pursuit. Chasing Mavericks follows this formula carfeully, though it manages to lift itself above cliche with inspiring performances from Gerard Butler and newcomer John Weston, both of whom clearly relish the waves as much as they do facing the camera.

I admit that I know very little about surfing. Though I’ve lived in Los Angeles for the better part of a decade now, the sea and its hidden legends remain mysterious to me. One of the most popular legends is the Mavericks Surf, supposedly the greatest of all surfs which occur somewhere near the Santa Cruz area. Jay (Weston) is a 15-year-old surfer with an itch to escape the mundane realities of life on the land. To hear him talk, you’d think he was a dolphin in a human body. When he discovers that the mythic Maverick wave is just miles away from his home, he turns to legendary surfer Frosty Hesson (Butler) to help him find and conquer the wave. Frosty has his own demons, of course, which have gotten the better of him since his heydays as California’s prize surfer. As he helps Jay train for the ultimate surfing challenge, Frosty learns how to cope with life in the shadows of his own success.

The movie is based on the real life story of the actual Frosty Hesson, but as I know next to nothing about him, I cannot gauge how well the film’s narrative holds up to reality. But as in all biopics, the filmmaker’s goal is to print the legend, not the truth. And by that measure, the movie is surprisingly watchable.

We’ve already had two posts covering The 2012 Angel Ball in New York City, on one hand featuring Irina Shayk and Bar Refaeli and on the other Kim Kardashian and Kanye West; who knows how the latter two got on the invite list. Anyways, this post is completely Kardashian-free and rather we’ll mention that The Angel Ball raised funds for cancer research and honored the philanthropic legacies of Bonnie Pfeifer Evans and the Charles Evans Foundation and the Lester and Sue Smith Foundation. For more info, visit the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research website.

You gotta admit, Howard interviewing Victoria would be pretty damn sweet! I’m pretty sure the guy could convince her to ride the Sybian. OW!

As we mentioned yesterday, Victoria Justice is currently cruising around NYC making the rounds at various media outlets promoting her upcoming teen comedy “Fun Size,” which hits theaters on Friday. Along w/ Victoria, the cast includes Jane Levy, Thomas McDonell and Chelsea Handler. Even though it’s a Nickelodeon production, the film received a PG-13 rating, so for those of you bastards who plan to check it out, it seems promising! Knowing our luck, it’s probably for bad language as opposed to Victoria getting wasted & stripping off all her clothes.

Anyway, here’s more juice:

Wren (Victoria Justice) is invited to a Halloween party by her crush, Aaron Riley (Thomas McDonell), but she is also ordered by her mother (Chelsea Handler) to take her oddball little brother Albert with her when she goes out trick-or-treating on Halloween. When she goes to the party instead, she loses him and must find him before her mother finds out. So she ends up borrowing a car from some boys and they team up to find Wren’s brother. They end up going through a lot of trouble to find him and go through some crazy shenanigans. Source

Martha Higareda was another of the attendees at the 16th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala. She’s a Mexican actress so most likely not many people know who she is. For US releases she appeared in 2010′s Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball as Ariella Martinez and in Lifetime Movie Network’s Lies In Plain Sight where she plays a blind girl. Read more at Martha’s Wiki page.
