“I was so excited because we did work very hard for the campaign, but it just shows that the middle class won. Super PACs didn’t get to buy the election. They didn’t get to buy America.”[THR]
If there’s one thing we can say with assurance about the 2012 American Election it’s this: never has much money been raised and spent to change so little. Obama is still president, Democrats retain control of the Senate, and Republicans hang on to their House majority.
A big part of the reason for the status quo was the Latino turnout, which made upwards of 10% of the overall vote and which split in Obama’s favor by a margin of 70% (yup: 70). And few people have spent as much time and effort trying to persuade Latinos to vote for Obama as has Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria. She revealed via phone on Good Morning America earlier today that she “was in tears” upon hearing the news of Obama’s reelection and that she plans on continuing her advocacy of liberal policies to help Latino constituents.
Look to see more of her on the campaign trail in 2016. Hillary’s already lining up the surrogates.View All Photos ›
