    I don’t think actors should starve themselves for roles. It’s not healthy and I think it’s sends a wrong message. There’s no reason to do this just use makeup, lighting etc and pretend the actor is bony.

    We’re all aware we’re not watching a real life documentary so what difference does it make if the actor doesn’t in real life look like death?

    Sad thing stuff like this gets oscar consideration. Why? Purposely looking like death doesn’t add to how well a person acts.

    Don’t think actors should get fat for roles either. Use a fat suit.

      I disagree. I have more respect for actors who transform their bodies to become more like the characters they are portraying. They are certainly compensated. Christian Bale in The Machinist, Ed Norton in American History X, and Matt Damon in Courage Under Fire are all good examples.
