“The midfielder said the MLS Cup 2012, which takes place Dec. 1, will be his final competitive game with the club.”[THR]
Ever wonder what David Beckham would look like without the words “Herbalife” scrawled across his chest? Well, you’ll get to find out in just a few weeks, when David Beckham bids adieu to the L.A. Galaxy soccer team and moves on to greener pastures and sturdier cleats. After six seasons with the team, Beckham says it’s time for him to move on, though he will in all likelihood stay on as part of the team’s “ownership structure” (like you didn’t expect him to keep reaping a profit, even from American Soccer).
Officially, Beckham says, “I’ve had an incredibly special time playing for the L.A. Galaxy; however, I wanted to experience one last challenge before the end of my playing career. I don’t see this as the end of my relationship with the league as my ambition is to be part of the ownership structure in the future.”
Our prediction: it’s only a matter of time before Hollywood (and the Church of Scientology) come calling. Those H & M underwear ads weren’t quite the hit retailers were hoping for.
