BREAKING!! Queen of Style Miranda Kerr Lets Her Son WALK!!!

Miranda Kerr seen wearing ripped jeans and stiletto shoes while visiting the studio with baby Flynn in NYC

Since we’re sad & obsessed souls, we know stupid facts like which celebrities favor using their right foot when going down curbs or which pop star has the best mic holding technique, so it’s only natural we know which celebrity mom is notorious for never letting her son walk by himself—at least when the cameras are pointed in his direction. I think I might have seen one or two photos of the little guy walking by himself over the past year (he turns two on January 19), so it’s nice to see that Miranda Kerr has a little more confidence in her future pimp-daddy. It’s also possible that Miranda can no longer lift him up, so she’s forced to let him walk. I kinda dig how she refuses to use the stroller, which is very unlike a lot of yuppy moms who love to show off their blinged-out, $5000 designer strollers.

Anyway, both mommy & son were spotted walking around in NYC recently. Yesterday, Miranda & Flynn rocked ripped jeans as they hit up a studio so Miranda could earn a few extra holiday shopping bucks by strutting her goods for a shoot (as if they don’t already have enough holiday shopping bucks!). Earlier today, they were seen catwalking out of their Chelsea apartment—both looking equally stylish!

Here’s a closer look at Flynn’s kicks:

Beverly Hills: Jessica Biel @ “Hitchcock” Hollywood Premiere

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel stars as Vera Miles in the upcoming Hitchcock film starring Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock, Helen Mirren as Alma Reville, and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh. Scarlett stayed around NYC to hit up Letterman (a day after Jessica) follwing their NYC premiere matchup. The film opens in theaters this Friday, November 23rd. For more info, visit the Hitchcock official website.

Hitchcock centers on the relationship between director Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville during the making of Psycho, spanning from Wisconsin murderer Ed Gein, the real-life inspiration for the character of Norman Bates, to the release of the groundbreaking film in 1960. [Wiki]

L.A.: Lindsay Lohan @ Lifetime’s “Liz & Dick” Red Carpet Premiere

Lindsay Lohan: Lifetime's "Liz and Dick" Red Carpet Premiere in L.A.

Is it just me does it look like Lindsay’s face appears a little like she visited her neighborhood botox joint before hitting the premiere? Either that or she looks really stiff because she’s nervous. Regardless of what’s going on w/ Lindsay’s face, the thing we’re sure about is that they’ve really blown this TV film out of the water w/ so much useless publicity. You can tell that Lindsay Lohan is really desperate for a hit considering she’s dressed as if she’s hitting the red carpet at the Oscars, but sadly it’s just a made-for-TV on Lifetime (which makes it slightly more sad & desperate in itself).

We’d love to say that her new film “Liz & Dick” is a raging hit, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case. The sole review on the film’s Wikipedia page is by TV Guide’s Matt Roush, who’s calling it “An epic of pathetic miscasting” and “Laughably inept,” so we’ll have to see what all the women who tune in think of the film.

The film will hit TV screens on November 25 (this Sunday) and stars Lindsay in the lead as Liz Taylor & Grant Bowler as her on-screen hubby, Richard Burton.

Heading into week 12, who are the top 5 teams in the NFL?

Trying to figure out the top 5 teams in the league it a tough task, especially when trying to reason why Team A belongs but Team B doesn’t, even though Team B has a better record. It’s also great to go back and see what the rankings were like just a month ago and how different the landscape in comparison. When I look at the teams that consist of the top 5, i’m looking for the best bets to win the Super Bowl right now. This is based off recent performances, specifically the last two weeks so it’s more a power rankings or momentum rankings. Also factored in are injuries. Example: the Steelers can’t be considered until Roethlisberger is starting and performing at his usual level.

Even though the two teams with the best records weren’t very convincing this past weekend, the nod for the two leaders in the rankings go to Houston and Atlanta. Right now they’re both sitting at 8-1 and inching towards home field advantage throughout the playoffs but this past Sunday showed it won’t be an easy road. It’s still the NFL (you know, the National. Football. League. NFL) and a underdog always has a shot. Right now i’d put my money on the Texans as the true leader because despite what the Jaguars did to them, they do have an elite defense and one of the best running backs in the league. Also, everyone knows the Falcons have to prove they can do it in the postseason.

These next three were very tricky. I’m most confident about including the 49ers in the third spot. They absolutely destroyed a good Bears team even though both teams were playing without their starting QBs. I’m also going to throw in the Packers because it looks like they’re gaining momentum and a statement win this weekend against the Giants (coming off a bye) would be a huge statement. Yes, that also benefits the Cowboys. My 5th team was the hardest to decide. Last weekend it would’ve been flipped but i’m going with the Patriots as part of my elite top 5. The Gronkowski injury is alarming but they blew out a Colts team that was playing well and the Broncos did good against a Chargers team that looked like they’d given up. Where are the Ravens at 8-2? Discouraging wins as of late. I need to see some actual offense but like I said earlier, these rankings change from week to week.

Friendly reminder: the Thanksgiving games tomorrow (all times eastern) 12:30pm Texans at Lions; 4:15pm Redskins at Cowboys; 8:20pm Patriots at Jets. So even if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, go enjoy some football dammit!

Holy Ross & Rachel! NBC Wins First November Sweeps Since 2002

“NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt admitted that January would bring a more “level playing field” for the networks once football and its flagship competition were off the schedule, weakening the network’s advantage considerably.”[THR]

Thanks to the strong showing for Sunday Night Football and the latest edition of The Voice, NBC has managed to do something it hasn’t for a decade: win the November sweeps! Not since the glory days of Friends, Frasier, ER and Will & Grace has the peacock network managed to draw more viewers in the target 18-49 demo than the other three major broadcast networks. It also helped that their freshman series like Revolution and Go On performed as well as they did. (In fact, with the exception of The Mindy Project almost all of the new Fall shows have been pretty disastrous creative and ratings bombs).

What’s the next miracle they’ll try to conjure? Maybe they can help one of Jennifer Aniston’s romantic comedies actually work at the box office?

This Has Awkward Written All Over It. Ashlee Simpson Hangs w/ Her Son Bronx, Pete Wentz & his Girlfriend

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz take their son Bronx out for his birthday party with Pete's girlfriend Meagan Camper in Los Angeles. Rocker Pete wore an Iron Man mask on his head and carried a box full of props as he was seen out for the first time with his ex-wife and new girlfriend together. Ashlee filed for divorce from Pete in 2011 and the group were believed to be out shooting pictures for Thanksgiving and Christmas albums.

It wasn’t just a casual hangout, either. Ashlee Simpson & Pete Wentz, who got divorced in 2011, briefly reunited yesterday to celebrate their son Bronx’s birthday. The day even included a holiday photo shoot, so it was very surprising to see Pete Wentz latest girlfriend Meagan Camper also in attendance. You’d think Meagan would have some commonsense to make up some dumb excuse & not show up, but I guess Ash & Pete are really over each other & willing to do whatever it takes in order to keep their son happy. This, coincidentally, was the first time first time douchebag Fall Out Boy bassist hung out both his ex-wife and new girlfriend at the same time, but don’t expect for him to have a “ex-wife & new girlfriend” threesome anytime soon…

Life of Pi: Film Review

Visit the film’s official website!

If you’ve been a finicky moviegoer this year, wondering when the year’s crowning jewel and apex of creative achievement on celluloid is going to show up after months of mostly ho-hum middling entertainers, well, it’s here. Ang Lee’s Life of Pi is easily one of the best movies of the year (if not the best) and will surely find billions of lovers at movie screens across the world who wish to be transported to another world on an adventure like no other. This is, quite simply, the reason we go the movies: not merely to escape, but to escape to a world where we can be inspired, aggrandized, and have our best sense of self reinforced.

Life of Pi is, if nothing else, a visual masterpiece. It is a phantasmagoria of such breathtaking visual audacity and sensory distillation that the only way to accurately describe it is to see it yourself. The film critic whose writing you are reading can pile any and every superlative known to the English language upon the film and it will still fall short. This is a movie that has been so brilliantly imagined, conceived, and executed that to even call it a “movie” is a bit of a misnomer. It is, instead, a reflection of Life itself, teeming with the grand elixir of hope, longing, and death. The fact that it is produced by James Cameron and directed by Ang Lee should do nothing but excite you: the master of visual spectacle and the guardian of some of cinema’s most touching human stories (Sense and Sensibility, Brokeback Mountain) make a formidable and indomitable team.

The story begins in India where a young boy who is nicknamed Pi (as in Piscene, but really the infinite number of mathematics that we know as 3.14) finds himself on a boat with the animals from his family zoo which is in financial tatters. They are being sent away to Canada in the hope that some of the animals may find new life and admirers in a new land, and possibly be considered the treasures that they really are. The journey begins with Pi, a giraffe, an orangutan, and a tiger. After a terrible storm in the Pacific, only Pi and the tiger are left. Indeed, most of the movie is about how Pi manages to fulfill his journey with a wild tiger seated just feet away. And lest you think that this is a cuddly movie about a boy and his favorite pet, guess again: this tiger is as wild and ferocious and menacing as the seas that threaten to destroy them both. This is not the story of Pi and Simba; this the story of Pi and Death.

The second half o the film demonstrates a love for the Earth and all of its elements that will obviously strike many as a blatant bit of environmental propaganda. I say let it be so, and be glad that it is thus, for the movie also shows us how Man is but an element in the matrix of Earthly Life, and not its Master, as he is so wont to believe of himself. The story is, at its core, a demand that humanity humble itself in the face of Nature, and that the insular modern world of cities, technology, and satellite highways is but an illusion that the Earth tolerates . . . for now.

The must-see movie of 2012.
