“NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt admitted that January would bring a more “level playing field” for the networks once football and its flagship competition were off the schedule, weakening the network’s advantage considerably.”[THR]
Thanks to the strong showing for Sunday Night Football and the latest edition of The Voice, NBC has managed to do something it hasn’t for a decade: win the November sweeps! Not since the glory days of Friends, Frasier, ER and Will & Grace has the peacock network managed to draw more viewers in the target 18-49 demo than the other three major broadcast networks. It also helped that their freshman series like Revolution and Go On performed as well as they did. (In fact, with the exception of The Mindy Project almost all of the new Fall shows have been pretty disastrous creative and ratings bombs).
What’s the next miracle they’ll try to conjure? Maybe they can help one of Jennifer Aniston’s romantic comedies actually work at the box office?
