“Let’s give it up for our host, the tallest elf I’ve ever seen –- Conan O’Brien,” the president said at the event, which was taped at Washington D.C.’s National Building Museum.[THR]
Conan O’Brien has been on hiatus from his show for a while now (don’t let the new episodes fool you), so it was nice of him to take a break from his break from hosting late night’s best gabfest and host the annual “Christmas In Washington” Concert where he introduced musical acts like Diana Ross, Demi Lovato, Megan Hilty and Psy.
To be fair, the special will be airing on TNT on December 21 (which is why Conan felt obligated to host, wethinks), but that didn’t stop President Obama from being characteristically cardish in noting the unusual height of the evening’s host. At 6’4″, O’Brien dwarfs even Obama (who is pretty tall as presidents go), which may been why the President jested Conan as being “the tallest elf” he’s ever seen.
Perhaps the season’s good cheer and the ribbing he took from the nation’s first president to endorse gay marriage are what prompted Conan to tweet yesterday: “We’ve come so far: just saw two snowmen getting married.”
