Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please: we are about to enter a new phase in the Reality Television Star Cycle. After Gay Men Specializing in Makeovers, Bitchy Rich Housewives from Major Cities, and the Undying Cash Cow that is The Kardashians, we now have the follow up to Honey Boo Boo and Jersey Shore: Buckwild.

For the uninitiated, Buckwild is the latest entry to reality TV courtesy MTV’s now unabashed socio-cultural stereotyping machine. After the wacky success (and we use that term loosely) of Honey Boo Boo, MTV has found another redneck/hillbilly/white trash family with an otter in their family portrait for the rest of America to laugh at.

According to the press, the star of the show, Shain, is a “sanitation worker who lives in a “holler,” where “half my neighbors are my cousins. Shain has “no phone, no Facebook and none of that internet stuff,” but he doesn’t need it. Why? Because all you have to do is scream and it echoes throughout the hillside neighborhood, hence the term “holler.”

The series premieres tonight at 10 PM EST on MTV.

@Bozz Have you watched it yet? It just debuted last night. Hillbilly kid drama. Not too outrageous yet. I grew up in an area just like this and my nieces are growing up in a similar place. In some ways its fun to see kids not so hooked on consumer culture having fun in the country.

@Spanglylovesheels I haven't seen it yet but I have seen the first and second episode of Honey Boo Boo and despite all the hatred that they get, I kinda like the family, they seem genuine and humble.
