“Beyoncé, who is a friend to the Obama family, will be performing the National Anthem at the Jan. 21 ceremony, which will take place at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol.”[NY Daily News]
It’s no secret that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are big Obama supporters. It’s also no secret that the Obamas love Beyoncé right back (sometimes I wonder why given her lacking grammar), but the least surprising thing about the upcoming Obama inauguration will be Beyoncé crooning to the National Anthem in what we can only hope will be Baby Blue Ivy’s first memory of momma’s singing (in public). Ivy, by the by, just turned a year old a couple of days ago.
A bit more surprising is the presence of Kelly Clarkson among the artists readying themselves to sing to another four years of Obama. Clarkson, who supported Republican Libertarian hero on Paul during the presidential election, will be singing “My Country Tis of Thee”.
For the hardcore singer-songwriter fans (like me), James Taylor will be performing “America the Beautiful”.
