“The point was movie stars doing outrageous things. It’s a concept that’s never been done before. Now we know why.”[THR]
Yes, Movie 43 is as bad you’ve heard. But take heart if you’re one of the poor saps who actually paid to see it in a cinema near you: at least you’re not in it.
The movie’s entire cast of A-listers, including Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, Elizabeth Banks, Halle Berry, Gerard Butler, Chloe Grace Moretz, Uma Thurman and Richard Gere all snubbed the movie’s premiere, with only Butler daring to show his face at the after-party. After the unprecedented lashing (stoning?) it took at the hands of both critics and audiences, none of the cast wanted anything to do with the film.
An insider “in the know” claims that what went wrong with the movie was its format: “The concept of short sketches in the age of the Internet was an old-fashioned premise. Younger people just didn’t go for it. They can watch the same sort of thing on YouTube.”
Uh huh. That, and it sucked donkey balls.
