If you want to be freaked out by a crazy story & blown away by even crazier acting courtesy of Joaquin Phoenix & Philip Seymour Hoffman, definitely watch last year’s epic drama “The Master” (currently out on DVD/Blu-ray & OnDemand). The film received three Academy Award nominations for Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix, Best Supporting Actor for Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Best Supporting Actress for Amy Adams, but it’s a pity that all three came up empty—-ESPECIALLY Joaquin. I’ll go as far as to say that he might have been better than Daniel Day Lewis in ‘Lincoln’, but that’s debatable.
As for these latest photos, they were snapped yesterday afternoon as Joaquin Phoenix was spotted out in Venice with his girlfriend Heather Christie. The two were laughing it up as they walked through the parking lot barefoot. Joaquin was keeping a very low-profile by sporting very hick-looking facial hair that complimented his overall look. These two look like they just spent the past week doing a lot of drugs, getting wasted & having crazy amounts of sex. Definitely not a bad lifestyle!
UPDATE: The photo agency incorrectly I.D.’d his girlfriend as Heather Christie, when in fact it’s Britain’s Next Top Model finalist Sophie Sumner. Thanks to Elllie in the comments for the correction.

I guess I was wrong, I always thought Phoenix was gay..I guess not...
Fuck, I keep forgetting to watch The Master, I have the movie since last month.
@Bozz I've seen clips of Joaquin's performance and I was in awe. The only thing keeping me from watching it is that I HATE Paul Anderson's movies. Guess I'm going to have to suck it up just this once.
@HarryHooray I can't stand Punch Drunk Love but There Will be Blood, Magnolia and Boogie Night are all brilliant. Just kinda hoping that The Master is more like There Will be Blood.
@HarryHooray I'm gonna try to watch The Master tonight though, let's see what will happen. haha
@Bozz Totally agree on Punch Drunk Love, I have the 2-disk collector's edition and I still haven't seen the entire movie. There Will Be Blood is the only movie of his I like, and that's ONLY because of Day-Lewis. I just hate Anderson's style of directing and especially his soundtracks. Maybe The Master will change my view on him, probably not though.
Like ellie said, it's Sophie Sumner. She's very cute. He looks awful, I never thought he was attractive and now he's vomit inducing.
It's Sophie Sumner, not Heather Christie.
