And The Oscar Goes To…Oops. Plus, Our Favorites From The Red Carpet

Not sure how many of you guys watched through the fireworks finale at the Oscars last night, but I’m sure your Facebook/Instagram/Twitter feeds are probably buzzing with clips of how everything collapsed on live television during the Best Film announcement.

Long story short, Warren Beatty didn’t have the courage to speak up. The man was holding the card for Best Actress (Winner: Emma Stone, “Lala Land”) as opposed to Best Film (Winner: “Moonlight”), but somehow he made the rapid mental substitution that he would simply disregard the category & actress name as some sort of freak typo and go ahead and allow his announcing partner Faye Dunaway to do the honors by reading the film name on what was obviously the incorrect card. This quick and dirty act of simply glossing over critical details is a common error in human misjudgment that psychologists have known about for years, but for it to present itself on such a grand stage in front of countless million viewers is simply amazing. I think it’s safe to say that people won’t forget the moment anytime soon.

Here’s the full backstage interview with director Barry Jenkins and members of the “Moonlight” cast:

The Emmas, Halle and Matt Damon, from this list. :). I don’t like Alicia’s dress but I do find her pretty.

  • Drew_Monetz

I would definitely go with my future #1. She looked incredible at the vanity party.
I don’t want to hear any noise about small eyes.

  • supersecret

Vanessa looked amazing I hope she realizes how great her legs are.

  • Jahrgos

supersecret  oh I’m sure she does, why else wear that dress. I would’ve preferred her without that black crap on her eyes.

  • lenilovesfeet

    Drew_Monetz
Meh, don’t care enough for her to even comment 😉

Ok, she does look good here, small eyes and all!

  • lenilovesfeet

Not crazy about the women or the dresses, Karlie looks best imo and I’m not even a fan of Karlie.

  • lenilovesfeet

    Jahrgos  supersecret
I’d have preferred her with shoes that cover up those sausage toes, haha!
    Love her legs.

  • Bowser

I’m so glad Moonlight won, even if their victory was overshadowed by the error.

  • curvefan

    Biel’s body is amazing.
Karlie gets best use of what assets you have because she looks like she belongs in the crowd.  In fact, she looks second only to Biel.
Halle looks like she has a Chia Pet on her head.

  • Amari3

Halle wins here, love the hair. Karlie is a decent second altough these pictures are unflattering. Most of the rest are meh, except Busy, Alicia and Scarlett who are downright ugly.

  • Spanglylovesheels

    First Thought:

Chrissy Tiegen who got some good nap time in at the Oscars is probably not going to age well. Her face is also distorting into this weird dimple as it year goes by. Though I love that you can see her cans through that dress!

  • Spanglylovesheels

    Second Thought:

Mel Gibson should play an old guy with beefy hands who used to be a wildcatter on oil rigs and now works as a cashier at CVS. Is that one of his kids with him?

  • Spanglylovesheels

    Third Thought:

I find it distressing that it wasn’t all that long ago that Scarjo and Jessica Biel were the hot POA in Hollywood. Now one looks like a horse and the other is kinda meh.

  • Spanglylovesheels

Amari3 I thought that maybe Halle had been licking light sockets again.

  • Spanglylovesheels

curvefan I give you a like for what you said about Halle and your blind devotion to Jessica Horse Biel. You are a true believer.

  • Spanglylovesheels

Bowser your could say that their victory was “eclipsed” by the error…. I mean if you wanted to…lol.

  • Spanglylovesheels

supersecret For a midget her legs are good. But those feet of hers are starting to really turn me off. She always had sausage toes but the nails and the bulbous toes are a turn off anymore.

  • Spanglylovesheels

Drew_Monetz I didnt even recognize her with her hair pulled back. I think she looks better with it down. She has grown on me a lot in the last year of posts here.

  • MoeJackson

Drew_Monetz Hollywood is really trying to push this girl down our throats…

  • Copy/paste from other thread. I had meant to put it here.
My favorites from the night were in no order: Kloss x2, Ruth Negga, Stone, Biel, Steinfeld. Ale/Lima combo pretty good too.
Honorable mention to Amy Adams and Gosling’s sister
Least favorite: Janelle Monae and Dakota Johnson.
I thought the ending was fitting and hilarious in an otherwise generally lackluster show that also ended with the lowest ratings in a decade. They are so absorbed in the moment, at least 3 people can’t read the front of the envelope. Moonlight will be the millennial version of Shakespeare in Love.

  • Spanglylovesheels Agree with you on ScarJo. Saw her few months ago and thought what the hell happened. Crazy amounts of chain smoking when there are no cameras?

  • Drew_Monetz

Sofia’s ass should have won an award.

    Drew_Monetz
She also deserves an award for being able to walk in those heels!

  • Drew_Monetz

Doesn’t she know those type of shoes are only to be worn in the bedroom?
That’s as impressive as her ass.

  • Spanglylovesheels

Gabbo yes the chain smoking is a good way to look bad in a hurry.

  • Spanglylovesheels Gabbo If you’re wondering:

  • FuzzyBear

MoeJackson Drew_Monetz I volunteer as tribute to return the favor.

  • FuzzyBear

I thought Amy Adams and Kate Hudson stood out above the crowd of celebs for at least a couple of reasons…

  • Spanglylovesheels

Gabbo she does nothing for me there. The hair, face, old lady blouse….. yuck.

  • Spanglylovesheels Yeah, like I said, pretty disappointing. She was crushed by Reese and Tori Kelly at this particular event.

  • Spanglylovesheels

Gabbo Spanglylovesheels I was looking through some old magazines that I was throwing away and found this picture of Scarlett from 2009 in the article on the new hot rising female stars. I am old enough that 8 years doesn’t seem like such a long expanse of time but it has taken its toll on her.

  • Drew_Monetz

I watched Don Jon the other night and Scarlett is so hot/sexy in that movie. She has one of my favorite pair of lips ever. The mom haircut really ages her.
