I always feel sorry for actors who have to sit through an interview with David Letterman, but at times they can be amusing to watch b/c you can tell neither person wants to be there:

The quirky Anna Kendrick is making the media rounds in NYC promoting her latest film “Pitch Perfect” which hits theaters today. The musical comedy is produced by Elizabeth Banks & her hubby Max Handelman and features not only a seemingly hilarious premise, but also the equally hilarious Rebel Wilson. Here’s more juice about the plot, followed by the trailer:

The story follows an all-girls acapella group, “The Bellas” who try to beat the reigning acapella group, “Treble Makers”. Beca, a girl who wishes to become a famous DJ in Los Angeles, is forced to go to college in Carolina because her father disapproves. There she is introduced to the Bellas, who are scouting for new members. Beca also meets a boy who works in the radio station with her. One girl suggests that she should audition, but Beca turns down the offer. She later decides to audition, and passes the test along with “Fat Amy” and a few other girls. It turns out the boy she met passed the test to be in the Treble Makers, rivals against the Bellas. Both of these groups aim for winning the international acapella contest, creating tension, and forbidden romance. Source

Sydney: Fashionable Ladies @ Topshop & Topman Opening on George St.

The one person in particular that caught our eye was Vogue Williams, but that’s just our personal take. These were snapped a couple days back at the grand opening of a really big Topshop & Topman store located on on George Street in Sydney. Completely off topic, but I’ve always wanted to hit Sydney, but it’s just so damn far away that you need to have at least 2-3 weeks to truly enjoy yourself! Life sucks when you have to work all the time.

NYC: You Can Tell That Jessica Alba Handpicked Her Nanny

Handpicking the ugliest of ugliest nannies can’t save you from what happened with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Then again, Cash Warren is a Yale grad, so we’re assumng he’s a little smarter than The Governator.

Jessica Alba was seen going in and out of her SoHo hotel (we’re assuming it was the Trump SoHo judging by the pics) yesterday with baby Haven in her yuppy stroller. Maybe J.Alba finally got the hint that her businesswoman image needs to include her kids by her side! Most celebrities have bodyguards behind them, but when you’re a freakishly busy mom/actress/entrepreneur like Jessica Alba, you have your nanny walking by your side holding a bottle with some formula (we’re assuming J. Alba doesn’t have time to pump or feed).

Earlier in the week, the actress-turned-businesswoman attended Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women Summit 2012 held in Laguna Niguel, CA where she discussed how she got started with Honest.com & how she balances life & career. Here’s an excerpt from the interview (watch the video @ Fortune):

Yet around 26, Alba found herself restless. “I sort of went through a midlife crisis,” she said. “I became quite introspective and reflective about my life and my choices and my family and work and everything. I got pregnant at 26 as well, and really my daughter was such a blessing… A lot of turmoil that I had just sort of like melted away, and I was like, oh, this is what I should be doing.” After her child was born, she read Healthy Child, Healthy World and was appalled by the truths it uncovered, like the amount of toxins and chemicals in everyday products – from no-tears soap to a bedroom mattress. Alba wished there was a company that made these products without toxins – and the seed for The Honest Company, Alba’s eco-friendly company, was born.

Alba, who has two daughters, calls the project her “third baby.” It took three-and-a-half years before finding the right mix of partners. (“I had a lot of people slamming a door in my face and telling me I was nuts, and there was no way that anybody could do this,” Alba said.) Today, Honest has 63 employees and offers a wide array of products – from diapers to detergent. Alba’s husband Cash Warren was her rock during the dark, startup days; he helped her hone in and focus on the business, encouraging her to move forward with her idea.

“Partner with people that are smarter than you, understand your strengths and weaknesses, and surround yourself with people that complement your strengths, but could support your weaknesses,” Alba, a 2012 Fortune Most Powerful Women Entrepreneur, said – advice that’s led to her professional and personal success. Somebody needs to tell January Jones that she’s not in NYC’s East Village so her little hat complimenting the easy-flowing getup doesn’t work as well in West Hollywood. Aside from that, she needs to add a little more meat & color to the legs in order to get any love from our Celebrity Curb Watch judges as they slowly narrow down the Curb Watch Celebrity of the Year.

Housekeeping: How Are Things Now?

We’ve been endlessly tweaking things on the site for the past couple weeks so I hope the two or three of you bastards who are still around find some of the changes useful. Our goal is to find a healthy balance between community, ease of use and stability, so thank you for your patience while we work through the kinks!

Please take a few seconds to give us constructive feedback and we’ll do our best to take all your suggestions into consideration when deciding what to tackle next.

Community Will Return
We’ve done this a long time & each time we’ve transitioned people have left for one reason or another. This time we’re thinking much more long-term than before & I can all but guarantee a new batch of peeps will settle in. It might take a few months or a year, but they will come. At the end of the day, crazy people will drive us nuts whether they’re logged in or not (we have many examples from over the years), but the benefits of an open community are far greater. We just came to the realization that a gossip site shouldn’t force people create an account when somebody just wants to leave a couple thoughts & never come back. At times, those are some of the most entertaining comments. At the end of the day, we’re commenting on celebrities, their respective legs, racks, butts, etc., so we gotta stop taking ourselves so seriously & just enjoy the few minutes away from our robot lives. Right?!

Navigating The Gallery
We’ve made it so that you can click on the photo itself to go to the next photo. Once each gallery set finishes, it will go to the next gallery in the archives, so if you’re really bored out of your mind, you can literally spend a few days in the gallery section & not even scratch the surface of our entire collection of nearly 40,000 posts over the past eight years. Ya, I know, we have no lives.

Feature Highlight: Daily Catwalks
Catwalks
Previously we used to create separate posts for these daily catwalks, but that limited the number of celebrities we could post, as well as the speed we could get new photos up on the site. This new section attacks both problems and creates an area that’s offers a highly curated selection of candid and red carpet photos that we feel deserve a spotlight. You can easily comment on these photos by clicking directly on the photo or on the comment bubble that appears when hovering over the photo.

Let us know how we can make this section better. We truly feel it makes the consumption of the latest photos far easier than before! Less clicks, ads and pageloads! Who doesn’t like that?

Feature Highlight: Mobile Version
While obviously not as robust as the full version, we still like what you can do on the new mobile site! You can quickly view photos in the gallery and make comments when on your smartphone! When you’re on the go, the mobile site is definitely worth a look-see.
