Emma Watson Does A ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Photocall in Paris

I have a feeling this will be the first of many promotional events for Emma Watson before Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ hits theaters next month on March 17. This is one of the first of many classics that plans to give the live-action remake treatment in the coming years. The film stars a deep cast that includes Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Audra McDonald, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson. Here’s the plot & trailer:

Belle is a young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle in exchange for the freedom of her father Maurice. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and she learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior to recognize the true heart and soul of the human Prince within. Meanwhile, a hunter named Gaston is on the loose to take Belle for himself and later intends to hunt down the Beast at any cost.

“Big Little Lies” is HBO’s upcoming new comedy-drama miniseries based on the book of the same by Liane Moriarty. The series, which premieres later this month on February 19, will star a deep cast including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgård and many others. Normally when you get so many big names working on a big project, it turns into shit, so it will be interesting to see how director Jean-Marc Vallée and writer David E. Kelley prove us wrong.

The premiere was held last night at the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. You can read Variety magazine’s recent review here.

We’re not sure how many of you guys went out and watched “Fifty Shades of Grey,” but judging by its crazy success at the box-office with the first film, it doesn’t surprise us at all that producers are going all in with the series. For the record, the first film had a production of $40 million and raked in roughly $571 million at the box-office! Now, that’s what I call a great return!

These latest photos were snapped at the ‘Fifty Shades Darker‘ film premiere yesterday at The Theatre at Ace Hotel. According to the film’s Wiki, the cast includes Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan star as the leads Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, with Kim Basinger, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Max Martini scoring supporting roles. Here’s more about the film:

Following the events of Fifty Shades of Grey, Anastasia “Ana” Steele tries to move on from her relationship with Christian Grey. A wounded Christian convinces her to resume their romance under Ana’s conditions. As the couple begins their normal relationship, Christian’s past threatens to tear the couple apart. Source

Ruby Rose & Others at the “John Wick: Chapter 2” Premiere in Hollywood

As we mentioned in a previous email, Ruby Rose is set to star in a number of films this year, thanks mainly to her popularity on the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black.” Earlier in the month, Ruby was on the red carpet promoting “XXX: Return of Xander Cage” and sometime later this year, she’ll be back on the red carpet at the “Pitch Perfect 3” premiere. Looks like somebody has cornered the franchise market, but hey, as long as the fat checks are rolling, it’s all good!

These latest photos were snapped last night at the “John Wick: Chapter 2” premiere held at The Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. Following a near-4x return on the 2014 original, it was only natural for the producers to roll the dice with a sequel! Aside from Keanu Reeves and Ruby Rose, “Chapter 2” stars Common, Laurence Fishburne, Riccardo Scamarcio, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane. The film will hit theaters next weekend.

More about the film:

Legendary hitman John Wick is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome, where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.[Source]

And finally, judging by all the ladies in attendance, I think one of our trademark polls is in order…

Wait, they have another ‘Resident Evil’ film?! How many films are in the series anyway? I feel like we’ve done ten premiere events for the franchise and I don’t think I’m exaggerating. I just googled it and unfortunately I was incorrect, but only by four films!!

1.1 Resident Evil (2002)
1.2 Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
1.3 Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
1.4 Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
1.5 Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
1.6 Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2017)

The latest film in the series stars Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, William Levy and Iain Glen. Here’s more:

Picking up three weeks after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice and their comrades were betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle fighting against zombie hordes and new deadly mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights against the tyrannical leader of Umbrella led by Dr. Sam Isaacs and other deadly enemy forces in order to save humanity and the world, which is on the brink of oblivion caused by the deadly T-virus that had destroyed millions of human lives on Earth. Since time is a little tight today, we’re going to focus on the big “xXx: Return Of Xander Cage” premiere in Hollywood. It was a fairly star-packed premiere, so there are plenty of faces to keep you guys busy—at least those of you aren’t preoccupied with the inauguration.

Before we move to the commenting on the photos, here’s more about the new film, which is the third in the “xXx” franchise. Hitting theaters this weekend, the film stars Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Deepika Padukone, Kris Wu, Ruby Rose, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette and Samuel L. Jackson.

Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel), thought to be long dead, comes out of self-imposed exile as recruited by the CIA to race villain Xiang (Donnie Yen) to recover a powerful weapon known as “Pandora’s Box” which can control military satellites which could cause catastrophic damage. Recruiting a group of thrill-seeking cohorts (a sharpshooter and a hacker), Xander finds himself caught up in a deadly conspiracy of corruption among world governments including insiders in his own country’s government. Bryce Dallas Howard, Camilla Alves, & Matthew McConaughey at the “Gold” Film Premiere in NYC

The premiere was held last night at AMC Loews Lincoln Square in NYC.

We wish we could say that Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey once again struck gold with his latest film, but sadly critics online are trashing his latest effort (see Metacritic & Rotten Tomatoes). As an apparent consolation from the award show circuit, “Gold,” a film that released on December 30th and is co-produced by Matthew McConaughey himself, received a Golden Globe Award nomination for its self-titled original song. You can listen to it below:

Here’s more about the film:

Kara Del Toro & Others Spice Up “The Space Between Us” Screening in L.A.

Kara Del Toro, Ingrid MichaelsonPhoto Credit: FameFlynet Pictures; Kara Del Toro, Ingrid Michaelson

“The Space Between Us” (see the Wiki) is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Peter Chelsom, produced by Richard B. Lewis and written by Allan Loeb. The film stars Asa Butterfield, Britt Robertson, Gary Oldman, and Carla Gugino. As we’ve seen in past premieres, Kara Del Toro always seems to be the hottest one one the red carpet and most of the time she isn’t even in the film (nothing wrong with that of course). The screening was held last night at The Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood.

Here’s more about the film:

In this interplanetary adventure, a space shuttle embarks on the first mission to colonize Mars, only to discover after takeoff that one of the astronauts is pregnant. Shortly after landing, she dies from complications while giving birth to the first human born on the red planet – never revealing who the father is. Thus begins the extraordinary life of Gardner Elliot (Asa Butterfield) – an inquisitive, highly intelligent boy who reaches the age of 16 having only met 14 people in his very unconventional upbringing. While searching for clues about his father, and the home planet he’s never known, Gardner begins an online friendship with a street smart girl in Colorado named Tulsa (Britt Robertson). [Read more]
