“Colossal,” a new sci-fi comedy flick, initially screened at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival last September, but will finally go into wide-release later this weekend. The film, which is written & directed by Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo, stars Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis, and Simon Pegg. Here’s more about the film’s somewhat odd plot:
After losing her job and boyfriend in New York, Gloria (Anne Hathaway) moves back to her hometown only to discover how strangely connected she is to an enormous Kaiju attacking Seoul, South Korea. Source
If you’re curious about reviews, the film received a very favorable response when it screened at TIFF. Here’s a snippet from the film’s Wiki:
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 76% based on 50 reviews, with an average rating of 6.7/10. The site’s critical consensus consensus reads, “Colossal’s singular strangeness can be disorienting, but viewers who hang on may find that its genre-defying execution — and Anne Hathaway’s performance — is well worth the ride.” On Metacritic, the film has a score of 59 out of 100, based on 14 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews”.

Ready or not, but the new “Fast & Furious” is set for a wide release later this month! The latest film titled “The Fate of the Furious” will hit theaters on April 14 and stars a number of A-list names including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Charlize Theron and even Helen Mirren! The film’s producer and lead actor Vin Diesel, along with costar Charlize Theron were on hand for the premiere yesterday in Berlin.

“Smurfs: The Lost Village” is a reboot film unrelated to Sony’s previous effort that featured Katy Perry as Smurfette. Singer Demi Lovato scooped up the lead role as Smurfette in the reboot, which hits theaters this weekend. Ariel Winter, on the other hand, will do the voice for Smurf Lily, who is described as “a gentle girl Smurf” and 23-year-old singer Meghan Trainor lends her voice for Smurf Melody.
Here’s a brief plot summary for all you “Smurfs” fans:
In Smurf Village, the Smurfs live peacefully among themselves. Their leader is the wise and elderly, if a bit overprotective Papa Smurf (Mandy Patinkin). Most of the Smurfs include the klutsy and slow-witted Clumsy Smurf (Jack McBrayer), the intellegent and eccentric Brainy Smurf (Danny Pudi), the strong and gutsy Hefty Smurf (Joe Manganiello) and the beautiful Smurfette (Demi Lovato), who feels out of place in Smurf Village as the only girl. Smurfette was created by the villainous wizard Gargamel (Rainn Wilson) but was redeemed by Papa Smurf and became part of the village. Gargamel makes it his mission to capture the Smurfs, steal all of their essence, and become the most powerful wizard in the world. Source

As we mentioned yesterday, film industry trade show CinemaCon is in its final day at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. It was a star-studded affair with A-list names showing up to represent their upcoming blockbusters for various production houses. You can visit the event’s official website for plenty more photos.
These particular photos were snapped at an event held by Hollywood production and distribution house Focus Features. Charlize Theron and Naomi Watts were looking great, while Kirsten Dunst not so much.

Damn, judging by the look on her face, you can tell that Scarlett Johansson really wants this movie to do well! At 32, she’s still very young, but unfortunately for Scarlett Hollywood adds around 15 years a woman’s age after she hits 26. On the topic of older women, I think 53-year-old Juliette Binoche really hit it out of the park. She looked great—even next to Scarlett!
Anyway, here’s more about her new sc-fi flick:

I just remember that “Power Rangers” known for its production quality when it was popular back in the 90s, but then later learned that it was mainly because it was dubbed over from the original Japanese version. I’m assuming with a production budget of around $100 million will yield a fairly nice finished product—at least we hope so! Don’t expect Oscar-quality storytelling or anything, but that should be the baseline expectation when it comes to action films.
One highlight of last night’s premiere at The Village Theater in Westwood was the attendance of one of our old favorites—Ms. Vida Guerra! I’m curious if she’s modeling her world-famous booty? With the advancement in Photochopping and airbrushing, I wouldn’t be surprised if Vida still enjoys a nice career showcasing her oiled-up booty. As for best dressed at the premiere, once again Kara Del Toro motorboated her way to victory. The woman must have the largest collection of “Look At My Rack” dresses! OW!

I don’t even know if she still has a fan base anymore! Scarlett needs stop falling in love and getting married for a few years because those divorces are definitely taking a toll on her! Let’s face it, the twists and turns in the typical marriage roller coaster are already pretty difficult and when you throw in a derailment caused by a divorce, it makes things all the more painful.
On the bright spot, Scarlett Johansson still finds time to work on new projects! The 32-year-old actress is currently making the rounds promoting her latest film ‘Ghost In The Shell’, which is directed by Rupert Sanders and hits theaters on March 31. Not everyone is happy with Scarlett in the film though. According to Wikipedia, “The casting of Johansson for the film was met with criticism from many fans and critics, calling the choice “whitewashing”. A petition was created in the effort to have Johansson removed from the project.”

I never thought I’d write Erik Estrada and “CHiPs” film premiere in the same sentence, but that’s exactly what’s happening. The former star of the original television series which ran from 1977-83 was on hand to celebrate the release of the new film which hits theaters this weekend. The new film, which is written and directed by Dax Shepard, will also star Shepard as Officer Jon Baker and Michael Peña will play the role of his sidekick Frank “Ponch” Poncherello. The big premiere was held last night at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Actress Emma Watson is wrapping up her marathon promotional tour of her latest film ‘Beauty And The Beast,’ which will probably go on to make a boat load of money for Disney in the coming months. The film’s production budget was upwards of $160 million, so I’m sure producers are biting their fingers right now—at least until the first batch of box-office numbers surfaces following the film’s official release later this weekend. According to film’s Wikipedia, the film features an star-studded ensemble cast that includes Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson.
For all you Disney fans, here’s more:

Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and she learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior to recognize the true heart and soul of the human Prince within. Meanwhile, a hunter named Gaston is on the loose to take Belle for himself and later intends to hunt down the Beast at any cost. Source

“Life” co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson were on hand at a photo call event held at the Paris Planetarium to promote their upcoming sci-fi horror film that hits theaters later this month on March 24. The film, which also stars Ryan Reynolds, will make its big premiere this weekend at the annual SXSW in Austin (conference kicked off today).
Here’s more about the new film:

The crew is tasked with studying the sample, which may be the first proof of extraterrestrial life. However, the study eventually backfires as the organism gains intelligence.
