Ashley Hinshaw & Otmara Marrero: Our Favorites From Crackle’s ‘StartUp’ Premiere

StartUp” is a new series set to debut on Crackle on September 6th. Martin Freeman (‘Sherlock’), Adam Brody (‘The O.C.’) and the sexy Otmara Marrero star in the upcoming series. This one looks like it might be worth checking out, so here’s more info:

Set amongst the unconstrained, yet opportunist streets of Miami, “StartUp” weaves a complex and exciting narrative, featuring the high-stakes struggle of what one will do to reach ultimate success – but this is not your average startup incubator story… “StartUp” is about the emergence of a brilliant, yet controversial tech idea centered around digital currency that gets incubated on the wrong side of the tracks of Miami by three strangers who don’t necessarily fit the mold of “tech entrepreneurs” and a crooked FBI agent who will go to any length necessary to take them down.

Given the major impact and influence that technology has had on society, it’s no wonder it has become its own character on television with various dramas and comedies trying to recreate it, however, there will be a much broader picture of startup culture on our TV screens… One that spreads to various “bubbles” in the universe. And with the Miami ecosystem being primed as the newest tech hub in the US with the highest startup density in the country, we believe that “StartUp” will be at the very beginning of that conversation.

“StartUp” is produced by Critical Content and Hollywood Gang Productions. Tom Forman, Andrew Marcus, Ray Ricord, Gianni Nunnari and Shannon Gaulding all serve as executive producers. The series is written by Ben Ketai (“Chosen,” THE FOREST) who also serves as executive producer and director. Adam Brody and Anne Clements (“Cleaners”) serve as producers. Source

Jessica Alba, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & Others: ‘Mechanic – Resurrection’ Premiere

It’s very interesting that ‘Mechanic’ series star Jason Statham didn’t push to work with his longtime partner-turned-fiance Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. We’re assuming producers wanted somebody with more acting experience so they opted for Jessica Alba—WAIT A MINUTE!!! After watching “Mad Max: Fury Road,” I kind of got the feeling that Rosie plays a better token-hottie than Jessica, but maybe we’re being a little too harsh on Jessica.

Jason Statham’s long-awaited sequel to the 2011-hit “The Mechanic” bet on Jessica’s action-star power, so if this one bombs at the box-office we all know why. Despite Jessica Alba helping to run a large consumer goods company (The Honest Company) and caring for her two daughters, she still managed to find time for the project, which apparently filmed in a number of locations across the globe including Bulgaria, George Town, Penang, Brazil and Sydney, Australia. Along with Jason & Jessica, the film also stars Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh.

Here’s more about the film:

After the demise of his partner-turned-enemy Steve McKenna (Ben Foster), Arthur Bishop (Statham), who narrowly escaped from Steve’s murder attempt on him, retires as a contract killer. But when his most formidable foe kidnaps the love of his life, he is forced to travel the globe to complete three impossible assassinations, and do what he does best: make them look like accidents. Keleigh Sperry and Jessica Szohr at ‘War Dogs’ Premiere in L.A.

I had high hopes for “War Dogs,” which goes into wide release later this weekend, but after reading a few reviews, I’m left somewhat disappointed. It appears expectations were high when you consider Jonah Hill’s hot-streak over the past few years, so the film might not exactly be a home run at the box-office, but considering the $50 million budget, it doesn’t need to be in order to make a decent return.

Here’s a snippet from Alonso Duralde @ The Wrap:

This alleged comedy becomes such a drag that you find yourself noticing the exceedingly lazy song choices (between “War Dogs” and “Suicide Squad,” it’s clear someone at Warner Bros. is listening to too much oldies FM) and the lackadaisical cinematography (by Lawrence Sher, also of the “Hangover” films) that makes Miami Beach in the summer look as murky as January in Albania.

Margot Robbie & Co-stars at ‘Suicide Squad’ Premiere in London

The ‘Suicide Squad‘ promotional machine rolled into London earlier today and held a star-studded premiere at Odeon Leicester Square. In attendance were the film’s A-listers including Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto.

In all the interviews the cast members do, they repeatedly mention the friendships that formed during the production and Margot Robbie added a bit of permanence to the bonds by tattooing a number of her co-stars. Among the cast members she couldn’t convince were Will Smith & Jared Leto. In an interview with ET, Will Smith gave his reasoning behind not getting inked saying, “I’m a grown-a** man,” Smith said with a laugh. “Margot comes bounding into work with all of her 24-year-old glory like, ‘Guys! Guys! I got a tattoo gun! I got a tattoo gun! We’re all getting tattoos!’ I was like, ‘No, we’re not.'” Watch the interview on ET for more on the tattooing.

Anyway, the film is getting somewhat slapped around by critics, but audiences will have the final say later this week when ‘Suicide Squad’ hits the big screen.

Damn, is that Kara Del Toro‘s sister or what? Normally we’d do a poll, but let’s be honest, Kara would win by huge motorboat!

As for the film, “Undrafted” is an upcoming sports comedy-drama set for release this weekend. It’s the directorial debut of Joseph Mazzello who also wrote, co-produced and starred in the film. Here’s some plot action from the film’s Wiki: “A collegiate baseball star was skipped over in the Major League Baseball draft. An intramural baseball game with his misfit teammates then becomes incredibly important to him as he tries to come to grips with his dashed dreams.”
