It’s not even in wide-release yet and the upcoming drama “Lion” is already generating a tremendous amount of Oscar buzz! The film screened last night at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art.
It appears “Slumdog Millionaire” star Dev Patel has another major international hit on his hands! The Australian-American-British drama, which is directed by Garth Davis and based on a true story (as told in the book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley), stars Rooney Mara, David Wenham and Nicole Kidman.
Here’s more about the film:
A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family. IMDb
As you guys know, Hollywood execs have been trying real hard for years to give Hailee Steinfeld a proper launch pad to super stardom, but in recent years the 19-year-old actress has suffered a number of painful performances at the the box-office. Fortunately for Hailee, she’s still very young, so when you have the Hollywood bigwigs repeatedly betting on you, I think it’s only a matter of time until Hailee finds the right script.
As for Hailee’s latest project, “The Edge of Seventeen” is a new coming-of-age comedy co-starring Blake Jenner, Woody Harrelson and Kyra Sedgwick. Here’s more info about the film:
The life of high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) is already awkward when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). Nadine now feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship with an awkward thoughtful boy (Hayden Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things might not be so terrible after all. The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine’s well-meaning but ineffective mother, and Woody Harrelson as Nadine’s history teacher, mentor and reluctant sounding board.[Source]
The big rumor is obviously that Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard got a little too close while filming their latest film “Allied”—so close, in fact, that Marion is rumored to be carrying Brad Pitt’s baby. Marion quickly put those dirty rumors to rest by stating she’s happily married to her husband of nine years Guillaume Canet. I feel like Brad attempted to do the same thing by appearing for the film’s premiere last night at The Regency Village Theatre in Westwood. Or who knows, maybe it was Brad’s therapist’s idea that he quickly return to the normal flow of his career or else life will be extremely rough following his divorce with Angelina Jolie. It’s anyone’s guess as to what exactly led to the divorce, but I just hope it wasn’t some sort of singular event that caused Angelina to hit the eject button on marriage. When you have that many kids, I think it works to their advantage to have the parents work through issues, regardless of size.
Apologies for diving so deep into the Brangelina gossip. Now let’s turn our attention to his latest film, “Allied”:
In 1942 North Africa, Canadian intelligence officer Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) meets French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) on a secret mission behind enemy lines. The couple reunites in London and get married, eventually having a child together. Their relationship is strong and normal but becomes threatened by the brink of war, as Vatan is presented with the possibility that Beausejour is a sleeper spy working for the Germans. Vatan is then placed under considerable pressure to kill Beausejour himself or to be executed for failing to obey orders. Convinced of her innocence, he sets out on a very dangerous mission to clear her name.
Amy Adams is busy working her glamorous red carpet style as she jets around promoting her latest film “Arrival” along with co-star Jeremy Renner. Following a premiere at The Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles, the actress flew to London to screen the film at the BFI London Film Festival. Judging by Amy’s dress, I think it’s safe to say all eyes were on her as she catwalked down the red carpet! With that said, here’s more about the film, which hits theaters this Friday.
When multiple mysterious extraterrestrial spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team is put together to investigate, including linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams), mathematician Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner), and US Army Colonel Weber (Forest Whitaker). Mankind teeters on the verge of global war as everyone scrambles for answers—and to find them, Banks, Donnelly, and Weber will take a chance that could threaten their lives, and, quite possibly, humanity. Normally Kara Del Toro is the hottest person at these premieres, but was getting squeezed for camera time by equally-sultry model Tanya Mityushina at last night’s premiere for Lionsgate’s ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ held at the ArcLight Cinema Dome. We’ll let you guys practice your voting skills as we slowly crawl our way to the general election next November (remember, you can still register to vote!).
And, here’s the trailer for the film:

Not cool, Kara Del Toro!
Co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning were on hand for the premiere of their latest film “American Pastoral,” which goes into wide release on October 21. The film has already screened at a number of film festivals, so it’s possible the producers are trying to make an Oscar run, although it’s getting trashed on sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
Along with Jennifer & Dakota, the cast also includes McGregor, Rupert Evans and Valorie Curry. Here’s more info:
In 1968, a hardworking man, who’s been a staple in his quaint community for years, watches his seemingly perfect middle class life fall apart as his daughter’s new radical political affiliation threatens to destroy their family.
Oh, come on Gemma! I think it’s safe to say that Gemma Arterton needs a new stylist! The 30 year-old English actress consistently plays it safe when it comes to working her undeniable hotness (are even allowed to use that word after all the recent Trump drama?).
The actress was in attendance at the London premiere of her new film ‘Their Finest’, which, according to its Wiki, is a “British romantic comedy film directed by Lone Scherfig and written by Gaby Chiappe, [and] based on the 2009 novel Their Finest Hour and a Half by Lissa Evans.” Gemma’s co-stars include Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy, Jack Huston, and Jake Lacy.
Here’s a brief interview w/ Gemma off last night’s red carpet premiere:
Here’s the beautiful Emily Blunt working her red carpet style for ‘The Girl On The Train’ World Premiere at Odeon Leicester Square. The beautiful English-American actress was all smiles as she wore a very color dress with extensive amounts flowery designs. We’re going to assume that’s all handmade. The film, which hits theaters on October 7, is based on the book of the same name by Paula Hawkins. Along with Emily, the cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Allison Janney, Édgar Ramírez, Lisa Kudrow and Laura Prepon. Here’s some plot info, followed by the trailer:
Divorcee Rachel Watson takes the train to work every day and spends her commute fantasizing about a young couple living down the street from her ex-husband. One morning, she sees something shocking and finds herself entangled in a mystery that promises to forever alter the lives of everyone involved.
“Modern Family” co-stars Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland were competing for photog-camera-time on the red carpet at the 68th Annual Emmy Awards last night. It’s nice to see that Ariel can glam things up a bit as opposed to her usual somewhat trashy sense of style. I definitely think Ariel caught more eyes than whatever it was that Sarah Hyland wore on the red carpet. And just for the hell of it, we’re doing a poll directly below to see who you guys like better:
As we posted last Friday, Chloe Grace Moretz arrived into Toronto last Thursday with her older brother to attend the premiere of her film ‘Brain on Fire’ at the Toronto International Film Festival. Although I’m overly enthusiastic about what she wore, here are the photos of Chloe on the red carpet at the film’s red carpet premiere. Unfortunately for Chloe, the film is getting slammed in the reviews department! Here’s a snippet from a review by The Hollywood Reporter:
The film’s chief selling point is a pinball-ricochet performance from Moretz that hits all the marks and yet is never wholly convincing — she’s more morose than vulnerable, more sullen than terrified. Moretz brought such memorable intensity and preternatural poise to teen roles in movies like Kick-Ass, Let Me In and Hugo; if this project was intended to test her ability to carry a dramatic movie solo as an adult, it’s a miss.
