With regards to fashion, it appears as if a lot of primetime ladies played it safe & favored the color red as they strutted their goods on the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre last night in Los Angeles. We were hoping for slightly more daring outfits, but I guess we’ll have to wait for the 2012 award season to roll around in January to see what else these women have to offer.
As for awards, Emmy ceremony host Jane Lynch summed it up beautifully when she returned from commercial with, “Welcome back to the ‘Modern Family’ awards!” The show bagged numerous wins including Emmys for best comedy, first-time wins for Julie Bowen Ty Burrell in the supporting acting slots, as well as Emmys for directing and writing. Many congrats to the cast & crew for keeping the cash cow moo’ing along beautifully!
For those of you who wanna catch the Missoni for Target popup store, it’s located on 6th & 42nd (1096 Avenue of the Americas). Last night’s big party hosted by Target & the Missoni family allowed various celebrities, VIPs & friends to have a private opportunity to shop (i.e. grab what they like for free with the promise that they’ll wear it out in public). Attendees included Victoria’s Secret models Alessandra Ambrosio, Selita Ebanks & Doutzen Kroes, as well as actresses Camilla Belle, Camila Alves, Malin Akerman & Emma Roberts.
Here’s a video from last night of members of the Missoni family & Emma Roberts dropping some kind words about the Target & Missoni hookup:
Keira Knightley looked like royalty at the “Dangerous Method” premiere held earlier today at the 68th Annual Venice International Film Festival. The pics with Keira in the floral dress are from a photocall session held earlier in the day. Along w/ Keira, the film’s cast includes Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender and Vincent Cassel.
Here’s more about the film:
Set on the eve of the World War I, A Dangerous Method is based on the turbulent relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung, his mentor Sigmund Freud, and Sabina Spielrein, the troubled but beautiful young woman who comes between them. [Source]
This is gonna sound real geeky, but I’m a huge fan of Carl Jung and all his theories about the psyche & synchronicity, so I’m definitely looking forward to this flick! It will hit theaters on November 23.

“Mildred Pierce” is a five-part miniseries that first started airing on HBO earlier this year on March 27. All parts have already aired, so you gotta watch the entire series either on Blu-ray or stream at HBO GO. The series stars Kate Winslet in the title role, alongside Guy Pearce and the deliciously pasty Evan Rachel Wood. Here’s more juice:
Mildred Pierce depicts an overprotective, self-sacrificing mother during the Great Depression who finds herself separated from her husband, opening a restaurant of her own and falling in love with a new man, all the while trying to earn her narcissistic daughter’s love and respect.
The plot of the miniseries follows Cain’s original story, dispensing with the murder plotline that was created for the film with Crawford. [Source]
The earlier set posted had all the big-dogg celebrities & this latest set has all ladies who were probably overlooked on the red carpet (besides, of course, Maria Menounos for obvious juicy reasons).
Two newbies to the site are Mika Newton & Skylar Grey. The former is a punk rocker from Ukraine and of course Skylar Grey’s claim to fame is Dr. Dre’s “I Need a Doctor.” Another one of her great songs is Lupe Fiasco’s “Words I Never Said”. Anyway, I gotta admit, I was a bit disappointed w/ Skylar Grey’s showing b/c she looks much hotter in her various music videos.

Our longtime favorite hottie Emmanuelle Chriqui was definitely one of the standouts on the red carpet at last night’s 2011 ESPY Awards. Emmanuelle’s claim to fame is of course her role as the sultry Sloan on HBO’s hit series “Entourage.” The eighth and final season of the series which will premiere later this month on July 24, so don’t forget to set your DVRs!!
Here’s the promo that’s appearing on HBO:
Anyway, besides “Entourage,” Emmanuelle Chriqui currently has a gig as Sancia on Showtime’s The Borgias. Additionally, she’ll be appearing in the upcoming film, 5 Days Of August. The film is about the Russia-Georgia conflict which turned into the 2008 South Ossetia war in August 2008. The movie also stars Andy Garcia and Val Kilmer. Look for it in theaters on June 5th.
5 DAYS OF WAR sees the President of Georgia (Garcia; Ocean’s Thirteen, God Father Part III) announce that the country is going to war with Russia over the territory of neighboring South Ossetia. American reporter Thomas Anders (Friend; The Young Victoria, Pride and Prejudice) along with his cameraman Chris Bailot (Dean Cain; CSI: Miami, Smallville) are deployed to cover the unfolding events in Georgia as the warfare becomes more savage and loss of life more extreme.
The annual ESPY Awards were held last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and Seth Meyers had the pleasure of hosting the event for a second straight year. The Dallas Mavs were standout winners last night with Dirk Nowitzki winning Best Male Athlete & Best NBA Player and his coach Rick Carlisle taking home the award for best Coach/Manager.
Lindsey Vonn won for Best Female Athlete. She confessed to suffering from Bieber Fever & requested that the young star take a pic of her for his Facebook page. Check the other winners here (scroll down)

Rather than write anything about these three ladies we’ll just go the easy route and plug Transformers again and again…
Transformers: Dark of the Moon stars Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro along with Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime. Rosie plays Carly Spencer, Sam’s new love interest. It opens in theaters on June 29th, ahead of the 4th of July weekend. Check out the Transformers official website for more info on the movie.
As Sam Witwicky goes into adulthood and tries to move on from Mikaela, the Autobots are busy as they learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft on the Moon and must race against the Decepticons to find it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers’ final battle.Wiki
These were snapped this past Thursday (June 16) during the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Daytime Emmy Nominee Reception held at the luxurious SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. I understand this set is packed with a bunch random daytime TV women, but every once in a while you can find at least a couple gems—with Denise Vasi definitely qualifying as one of those gems! Ow!
Anyway, the 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held on June 19, 2011, and CBS will air the event live from Las Vegas. The award show’s host will be Wayne Brady and for those of you who give a hit, Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek will both receive Lifetime Achievement Awards. So, does that mean they’re FINALLY gonna end their historic runs on TV?!

NYC’s socialites got together to raise some dough for AIDS last night at the 2nd Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala held at The Museum of Modern Art. Jennifer Hudson & Beth Ostrosky Stern were just a couple of the long list of guests. After reviewing the red carpet pics, I gotta admit, the super model community was kinda snubbed invites. I guess everyone’s feeling a little tight lately–even when it comes to dropping cash for a good cause.
Jennifer Hudson has been all over the place promoting her latest album “I Remember Me” & showing off her hot new bod after slimming things down (thanks to Weight Watchers). If things hold true as they do with most diets, we’re pretty sure she’ll gain it back within a year.
As for Beth Ostrosky, she looked like a million bucks, even though the silky dress looked like a photograph of a room in some European palace. I guess being married to the King of All Radio can do that to your wardrobe.
