In the spirit of the age-old saying, “better late than never,” we’re finally posting up our favorites from the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. If we had to choose whether to post only red carpet photos from the actual ceremony or photos from the various after-parties following the awards show, I’d obviously choose the latter.
The overall theme of the outfits can be summed up with the statement “Look, but don’t touch—unless your name is Leonardo DiCaprio.” I know a lot of chicks probably wouldn’t admit it to it, but with the amount of pre- and post-buzz surrounding that guy’s Best Actor Academy Award, he could’ve seriously gone home with any number of women last night. We’re pretty sure he didn’t follow through, but we’re about 110% sure some of his close friends cleaned up with all the chicks who had lofty aspirations of texting all their friends the sentence, “I had sex with Leo the night he won the Oscar for Best Actor.”

Will Smith & Jada Pinkett-Smith, who’ve recently been in the news telling everyone that they’re boycotting the Academy Awards for its painful lack of diversity. Out of the 40 nominees in the actor category, there wasn’t a single nominee for a person of color. While obviously very shameful, this shouldn’t come as a total surprise. The fight will continue for years to come and it’s going to take more than passionate boycotts to change Hollywood! I think it’s safe to say that real & lasting change will be rooted what happens at the box-office.
Since Jada released her video plea a number of African-American celebs have come out in support. We should mention that Chris Rock will continue to host the event, so now I think I’ll tune in just to listen to all the jokes! Chris Rock is at his finest when he’s doing race-related jokes!
Now, here’s a film that looks like it might be worth checking out! ‘Straight Outta Compton’ is a new biographical film that revolves around the rise and fall of the hip hop group N.W.A., which to put it lightly, pretty much started its own genre of music. Dr. Dre and Ice Cube are co-producers and Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson, Jr. plays his father in the film. I’m happy that these guys have the cold-hard cash to finally make something like this without having to worry about their return on investment (which I’m sure will be great).
Here’s more about the film & trailer:
The film chronicles the background history of the group N.W.A, its members and the dynamics of their relationships with each other, from the band’s inception, to growing success and stardom until the eventual disbanding. Source

Wow, Dwayne Wade tried really hard to make a fashion statement as the Miami Heat star & his fiance Gabrielle Union catwalked through Marco Polo Airport in Venice, Italy. Aside from the cool shades & the Tyson t-shirt, it’s fairly obvious that D-Wade got a little ahead of himself when he chose to rock a pair of skinny Harem pants (assuming there’s such a thing) with pulled-up zebra-print socks & slippers.
I’m sure D-Wade paid upwards of $2500 for the complete look, but come on now! He could’ve spent that money on his woman Gabrielle Union, who decided to keep things simple as she looked plain & boring while walking alongside her man.
Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade worked their tip-top style at the ‘Miu Miu Women’s Tales’ red carpet premiere held yesterday as part of the 70th Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy. Numerous other ladies were also in attendance including the always-stylish Freida Pinto, as well as Carey Mulligan & ‘Downton Abbey’ star Michelle Dockery.
For those of you who don’t know D-Wade proposed to longtime girlfriend Gabrielle Union following his NBA Championship victory this past June. No official wedding dates were released, but we wish them both the best!
The pics of Gabrielle in the white outfit were snapped earlier today as she catwalked around the Venice Film Festival. I guess D-Wade was sleeping in…
More about ‘Miu Miu Women’s Tales’:
The three conversations cover different creative stages in filmmaking: directing (The Creativity of Seeing), production (The Creativity of Producing), and acting (The Creativity of Acting). For the first, Hiam Abbass and Ava DuVernay “face off” against their actor counterparts Gabrielle Union and Roberto Zibetti (the only male participant in the project). For the second, insiders eagerly await the talk between Jules Daly (producer of The Door and The A-Team, among others) and Sue Kroll (President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures). Lastly, two rising actresses such as Freida Pinto (of the marvellous turn in Danny Boyle´s Slumdog Millionaire) and Michelle Dockery (a household name thanks to her role as Mary Crawley in the award-winning TV series Downton Abbey). Apologies for the delay! We had to go through over 400 images from last night’s red carpet, so it took a while to dig through and find the most worthwhile ladies to showcase. In case you missed our earlier posts, hit the 2013 ESPY Awards category for more coverage.
To deal with the number of ladies, we divided the images into three heats. We’ll poll each heat separately & then make another post tomorrow with the three winners from this post, as well as Selena Gomez & Marisa Miller.
Here’s the poll from the first batch in the lead photo…

The lead photo simply includes a sampling of the all the couples who hit the red carpet at the 2013 ESPY Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Check the gallery for a number of others including Michael Phelps and Win McMurry, Dana Grady and Joe Flacco, Andy Enfield and his hot wife, just to name a few.
We should note that LeBron James took home the night’s biggest award, Athlete of the Year. He was up against some tough company and when giving his speech, he first humbly acknowledged the other nominees and said he’s accepting it on their behalf, but he would be keeping the trophy it at his house.
D-Wade’s Gabrielle Union was definitely one of the most beautiful women in attendance. I just can’t believe she’s 40!! Frickin’ insane!
Reggie Bush’s baby-momma Lilit Avagyan is very creepy replica of Kim Kardashian (minus the giant ego & bullshit drama, of course).
And, both Melissa Rycroft & Danica Patrick were looking great, as well.
