The Los Angeles special screening of “The Imitation Game”, hosted by Chanel, was held at DGA Theater. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing along with Keira Knightley as Joan Clarke. This British-American historical thriller film about British mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst and pioneering computer scientist Alan Turing, a key figure in cracking Nazi Germany’s Enigma code that helped the Allies win World War II, only to later be criminally prosecuted for his homosexuality. Look for it in UK theaterson November 14 and US theaters on November 28.

We’ve been doing our best to keep tabs on Paris Fashion Week, as well as everything happening over here with the Hollywood awards season finally coming to an end with the Oscars finally going down this past Sunday.
Rihanna looked gorgeous earlier today as she hit the anxiously awaited Chanel fashion show. The normally-flashy dresser kept things very simple and elegant as she appeared in a light-purple getup that I can see becoming very popular among the fashionistas out there. Actress Keira Knightley, who also attended the fashion show, wore a similarly designed white-colored version.

Following it’s premiere in the UK back in early September, “Anna Karenina,” starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, finally hit theaters here in the U.S. with a star-studded premiere at the ArcLight Hollywood theater in Los Angeles. You’d think the previous twenty adaptions of Leo Tolstoy’s classic would suffice, but apparently not. I’m a closet fan of Keira Knightley’s acting, so I’m pretty sure she killed it as Anna Karenina. Here’s some plot action for those of you who haven’t read the book (Wiki):
The story unfolds in its original late 19th century tsarist Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.
Interview w/ Keira Knightley:
Interview w/ the sexy Alicia Vikander, who plays Kitty in the film:
These were snapped earlier today at the star-studded “Anna Karenina” premiere held at London’s Odeon Leicester Square. Never really heard of her before, but Swedish-flavored, 23-year-old hottie Alicia Vikander Kitty stole the red carpet, although Keira Knightley did better than usual in a beautiful cream-colored dress. I gotta admit, I’m really happy that K. Knightley chose to take her career in the non-cookie-cutter path when you consider the roles she takes on as an actress. It’s very tempting to sign on to some shitty $200 blockbuster, but it takes real passion to work through some of her recent roles, especially last year’s “A Dangerous Method,” which is a must see if you’re into Sigmund Freud & Carl Jung.
Here’s more about the film, which is based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel from 1877:
Anna Karenina is the tragedy of married aristocrat and socialite Anna Karenina and her affair with the affluent Count Vronsky. The story starts when she arrives in the midst of a family broken up by her brother’s unbridled womanizing—something that prefigures her own later situation, though with less tolerance for her by others.
A bachelor, Vronsky is willing to marry her if she would agree to leave her husband Karenin, a government official, but she is vulnerable to the pressures of Russian social norms, her own insecurities and Karenin’s indecision. Although Vronsky eventually takes Anna to Europe where they can be together, they have trouble making friends. Back in Russia, she is shunned, becoming further isolated and anxious, while Vronsky pursues his social life. Despite Vronsky’s reassurances she grows increasingly possessive and paranoid about his imagined infidelity, fears losing control.
A parallel story within the novel is of Levin, a country landowner who desires to marry Kitty, sister to Dolly and sister-in-law to Anna’s brother Oblonsky. Levin has to propose twice before Kitty accepts. The novel details Levin’s difficulties managing his estate, his eventual marriage, and personal issues, until the birth of Levin’s first child. Source
