We’ve already gone through our favorites from the actual MET Gala, but the after party scene is also worth mention—particularly the designer Balmain’s after party! If you were a King Sugar Daddy in the city for the Gala, this was definitely the place to be after the event!

This will pretty much complete our slow coverage of the MET Costume Institute Gala. I’m sure we missed a lot of gems, so we’ll run through various sets once again later this evening and have a final post. The glamorous gala comes only once a year, so it’s worth spending a little extra time on it.
With respect to the ladies in this post, I have to say that Taylor Swift was a major disappointment. I can’t tell if she was playing it really safe or if she was shooting for a more mature look? Selena should’ve just stayed home because her dress looked like something you could buy at Macy’s. Alicia Vikander proved that she’ll look cute & sexy in anything, while Demi Lovato was wrapped a gilded frame around herself. And finally, Emma Watson could do much better considering her daring looks on the red carpet.
Aside from lack of acting abilities, the other reason a lot of people dislike Kristen Stewart is because she cheated on ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson with “Snow White” director Rupert Sanders.
Sanders’s then-wife Liberty Ross subsequently filed for divorce and then earlier this year married Jimmy Iovine! Damn, talk about a huge (financial) upgrade! Jimmy Iovine’s current net worth is estimated at $950 Million (mainly due to Apple’s purchase of Beats By Dre). As for Kristen, following her very public breakup with Robert Pattinson, she some how declared herself bisexual and now runs around with this chick.
Katy Perry obviously went a little overboard—almost to the point where we were left scratching our heads, while Nikki Minaj made her huge rack the focus of her outfit (just like she does at every other event). As For Zayn Malik, he opted for a more literal approach and Solange Knowles looked like she was at the wrong event. I’m very curious as to whether Zayn had to take off his metal arms during dinner? Here’s some video footage of the couple during their grand arrival:
As most of you know, the anxiously-awaited Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala went down last night in NYC and everyone who is anybody showed up to the event to flex their fame and/or fortune muscles. The event is held to raise money for the Costume Institute (a.k.a. the fashion department), the only one of the museum’s departments that has to fund itself. The theme/dress code for this year was “Manus x Machina,” so keep that in mind as you look through the photos. You can tell very quickly who played along & who didn’t give a shit.
Sprinkled among with the long list of celebrities and filthy rich NYC residents in attendance were of course A-list supermodels. Adriana Lima, one of the attendees who didn’t care for the “Manus x Machina” theme was looking beautiful as expected. Same goes for Irina Shayk. As for Kate Upton & Alessandra Ambrosio, they fell into the “Machina” category wearing silver—which was apparently the color of the evening.
Love em or hate up, the Kardashians seem to get invites to any event they want and it’s mainly because of their obsessive followers on social media. I feel like the only way these people will ever leave the spotlight will be when some new form of technology comes to replace Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
On the bright side, at the pace of tech moves these days, I want to say that day will be here sooner than later, but knowing our luck, by that time, the Kardashian kids will have their own reality TV show.
As we move things along, here’s a matchup that we couldn’t avoid. The fact that Madonna is still dressing like she’s 30 shows her freakishly competitive nature. She turns 58 this August. As for Gaga, she turned the big 3-0 this past March.

If we’re gonna shine the spotlight on the sexy and beautiful, we might as well also show a little love to those women who either tried a little too hard, completely misunderstood the theme or simply didn’t bring their red carpet A-game.

And, as expected, Adriana Lima kept things simple, but was easily one of the most beautiful women to walk the red carpet last night. While last year’s theme was punk-craziness, this year was more focused on glamour and high-fashion featuring flowing gowns. Some women played along with the theme and others decided to keep things on the simple side. Adri was one of those in the latter group, but then again, Adriana doesn’t need to do too much to attract the camera’s attention.
We should note that this year’s Costume Institute exhibit, which opens to the public on Thursday was officially titled “Charles James: Beyond Fashion.” The exhibit’s namesake designer, who died in 1978, was a mid-20th century designer specializing in ultra-glam, sculptured gowns made with intricate draping techniques (see Voguepedia for an example). It’s the inaugural exhibit of the sparkling new, $40 million Anna Wintour Costume Center, which is, of course, named after the famous Vogue editor.
Along with the Met gala pics, we’re also including Adriana Lima’s showing at the Desigual 2014 Fashion Show late last month in Madrid that we forgot to jump on earlier. These photos will officially kick off our Adriana Lima’s Single Again Week, which we will celebrate through next Tuesday (May 13).
Chrissy Teigen looked stunning (sideboob alert!) on the red carpet as she attended the Met Gala 2014 with husband John Legend. This year’s Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was attended by many of your favorite fabulous looking ladies who didn’t fail with their gowns. The featured fashion exhibit for this year, “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” will run through August. Visit Vogue magazine for complete coverage of the event.
