”Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” Film Premieres in London; Nelson Mandela Dies At 95

Was the death announced shrewdly planned inside some Hollywood back-office or what because you couldn’t have planned it any better. Apparently moviegoers found out about Nelson Mandela‘s death after the film ended. He was 95. I figured we’d lead with a photo of the revolutionary leader to pay our respects.

You know it’s a big premiere when Kate Middleton & Prince William have to hire a nanny for lil’ George Alexander Louis (a.k.a. His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge) so they could peacefully enjoy movie night followed by a night of passionate lovemaking at one of Prince William’s secret London pads.

Oh yeah, we should also mention, the real stars of the film, the ones who put their hearts into the project, Idris Elba and Naomie Harris, were also allowed to walk the red carpet on this special night. It sucks to premiere your greatest piece of work & then you have to share the stage with Prince William & Princess Catherine, but I’m sure both stars didn’t mind it at all.

Celebrities attended Karl Lagerfeld’s “The Glory of Water” exhibition at the FENDI store on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, France. The exhibit pays homage to the fountains of Rome and was timed for the opening of the latest Paris boutique store. These shots by Karl will be shown in recreations of the cupolas unique to Rome’s skyline along the Seine from July 4th through July 14th. Says Karl:

“Rome has a very unique atmosphere. In my life, I have already been to Rome over 740 times, I feel part of it … Rome is eternal, therefore, there is no better place: Rome has changed and has not changed.” [Source]

Naomie Harris attended The IFP and Calvin Klein party held the L’Ecrin Plage as part of the 66th Cannes Film Festival. Most recently seen in theaters as Bond girl Eve Moneypenny in Skyfall, is it just us or does Naomie look like she could use a croissant or two? Anyways, Naomie landed the role to portray Winnie Mandela opposite Idris Elba in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom based on Nelson Mandela’s 1994 book “Long Walk to Freedom”. Look for it in UK theaters on November 29th, 2013.

Sydney: Berenice Marlohe & Noamie Harris @ “Skyfall” Premiere

Berenice Marlohe, Naomie Harris

So even though we’re in the midst of the Breaking Dawn 2 worldwide premiere blitz, the folks at Skyfall want to remind you that it’s not all about vampires and werewolves this weekend. Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris (along with Daniel Craig) were in Sydney for the premiere of Skyfall. And since we’re talking Skyfall it’s time for us to plug the film in the way of copy and paste. For more info, visit the Skyfall official website.

When an operation in Istanbul ends in disaster, James Bond is missing and presumed to be dead, and the identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked onto the internet. In the aftermath, questions are raised over M’s ability to run the Secret Service, and she becomes the subject of a government review over her handling of the situation. When the service itself is attacked, Bond’s sudden reappearance gives M the pretext she needs to seek out Raoul Silva, a dangerous villain claiming a personal connection to both of them – but as he follows a trail from London to the South China Sea, Bond soon finds his loyalty to M challenged over secrets from her past. Read or not, but the “Skyfall” multi-city red carpet premiere extravaganza just kicked off with what they’re calling the “Royal World Premiere” held at Royal Albert Hall in London earlier today. Along w/ the two new Bond girls Berenice Marlohe & Naomie Harris, we’re throwing in Kelly Brook and judging by the pics, it’s fairly obvious that Kelly’s holding her own very well in the presence of the beautiful actresses. It’s a pity she didn’t get an opportunity at the whole Bond girl gig, but hey, there’s still time!!

Let’s move forward w/ our regular protocol of sharing the plot, trailers & cast interviews that we’ll repeat with each premiere as they hit other cities around the globe ahead of the film’s release in the US on November 9.
