The Australians In Film Awards & Benefit Dinner 2012 took place last night at The InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. We don’t have a complete list of winners but we can report that Mr. Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, was amongst the honorees, winning the Breakthrough Award for his work in The Hunger Games. In his acceptance speech, he apparently slipped up saying that him and Miley were already married and so as expected the blogosphere is blowing up this news. Here’s a piece from his speech:
“I was fortunate enough to get called back in to read with my now fiancée, who I recently got engaged to… and we read together and fell in love and now we’re married.”

The 5th Annual Rock The Kasbah fundraiser supporting Virgin Unite and The Eve Branson Foundation was the other night, same as the Google Music launch party, as evident from a repeat by Audrina Patridge. Well, we could try to write about the foundations and all the various causes but we’ll spare you the details. Rather, you can hit up the Rock The Kasbah official website for more info.
The David Jones department store held their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection Launch in Sydney with celebs coming out for the event; however, missing from this set of photos was Miranda Kerr. As you know, Miranda walked the runway for David Jones showing off the latest collection. Team Miranda can hit up the David Jones website to see her all over the site promoting all the offerings.
These were snapped yesterday as Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole & Natalie Imbrugila arrived for the ‘X Factor’ auditions in Birmingham. So, who are all the judges on the US version of the show, which also kicks off later this year?! Is it even possible to do British & American versions of this show at the same time?!
Natalie Imbruglia has a new album, “Come To Life”, that’ll be released in Europe on October 2nd. It’s her fourth album but since her second album, “White Lilies Island”, she’s kept her success overseas. The first single off the new album is “Wild About It”. Here’s what she says about the new album, which is being released via her own record label Malabar Records:
“I feel the same creative buzz I felt when I first started my career…It’s just fun and artistic and creative and all the things it should be. There’s still a lot of depth to the songs…It just sounds fresher to me. I’ve tried different things – there’s more electronic stuff in there, and that’s different for me, more dance beats. There’s a freedom overall, and a sense of confidence. It’s slightly less introspective …”Source

And the Wiki says…
Natalie Jane Imbruglia (pronounced /ɪmˈbruːlɪə/) (born February 4, 1975) is an Australian singer-songwriter, model and actress.
In the early 1990s, Imbruglia was known to audiences as Beth Brennan in the popular Australian soap Neighbours (also responsible for launching pop singers Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Delta Goodrem and Holly Valance). Two years after leaving the program, Natalie launched a singing career with the international hit, “Torn”. The subsequent debut album Left of the Middle (1997) sold 7 million copies worldwide. While following releases, White Lilies Island (2001) and Counting Down the Days (2005), have been unable to match the commercial success of her debut, the latter became her first UK #1, and all are critically acclaimed. To date she has sold more than 10 million records worldwide. [Wiki]
The first official picture of the new-and-improved, twice-as-serious Imbruglia is out ahead of the marketing push for the Cannes Film Festival next month.
Given work is continuing on the film’s editing and soundtrack, it’s unlikely that the production company, Essential Pictures, will be showing anyone more than just a few clips of the $2.4 million film at Cannes. Source
