The car in which actor Paul Walker was killed last weekend is getting closely scrutinized by the media, uncovering what is apparently a dangerous reputation for being, well, exceptionally dangerous to drive (and sit in).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Porsche sports vehicle runs about $450,000 and is equipped with a V10 engine and 612 Horsepower. It was retired from the Porsche lineup in 2007. And it’s known for being exceptionally difficult to control:
“The Carrera GT quickly developed a reputation as a car for skilled drivers only, Patrick George, of the auto enthusiast website Jalopnik, tells THR. Jeremy Clarkson, the host of BBC’s Top Gear, once described its handling as ‘knife edge’ and that if the driver makes a mistake, It bites your head off.’ Jay Leno, a collector of high-performance sports cars, famously spun out in a Carrera GT at high speed in 2005 while attempting to set a speed record at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.”
A lawsuit involving the death of California driver in a Carrera GT in 2007 was settled for $4.5 million. No word yet on whether Porsche will be held liable in the two deaths this past weekend (but we wouldn’t bet against it).
The big news from the holiday weekend was that of ‘Fast & Furious’ star Paul Walker’s untimely death at the age of 40. The actor was involved in a car crash while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide in Santa Clarita this past Saturday (Nov. 30). The fact that he was the passenger is very ironic since in his movies Paul Walker’s always the one behind the wheel when racing around in fast cars. His last joyride was inside of a red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend & financial advisor Roger Rodas. He leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter, so we wish her all the best.
As most of you know, Paul Walker was shooting the latest installment of ‘Fast and Furious’–the seventh film in the series—so it will be very interesting to see where the writers take the film. Many people are calling for an end to the series, but with each film making more & more money, I can’t see Universal Pictures just closing shop so easily. We should note that ‘Fast 6’ raked in $788 million at the box-office and we’re pretty sure when ‘Fast 7’ hits theaters next summer, it will probably be the highest grossing film of the franchise.
Curiously, before his death, Paul Walker stated in an interview that an eighth film was pretty much “guaranteed,” with greedy execs at the studio also wanting a ninth and tenth installment in the franchise. Now that he’s gone, will they simply hire Ashton Kutcher as the next Paul Walker and resume business as usual or will they end the series and make spin-off films with the other characters? Let’s just say the ratio was pretty good, so if he didn’t get any last night then we should all just assume that he’s gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that). There’s also the slight chance that he’s extremely classy and doesn’t fuck on the first date, but that’s highly doubtful when you have women like Izabel Goulart, Erin Heatherton & Thairine Garcia presented to you a hottie platter.
It appears Paul chose Izabel Goulart as his temporary sex partner, but it’s possible he was trying to make the other girls catty in hopes get himself thrown into a drunken three/foursome where the girls take turns trying to prove to Paul that they’re the best. Obviously, the winner in all these scenarios is of course Paul Walker, so more power to him. That bastard.
Oh yeah, we should mention that he’s in Sao Paulo for the city’s seasonal Fashion Week. The ‘Fast & Furious’ series star actually walked the runway for Brazilian designer Colcci, along w/ Victoria’s Secret models Erin Heatherton & Izabel Goulart. We’ve included some pics from the runway in the gallery.
