As they’ve done since 1996, DoSomething.org shined a spotlight on noble young people under the age of 25 who have done outstanding work in their communities and the world. The organization joined with VH1 in 2007 to begin airing a more star-studded award show. As with previous years, celebs got dolled-up & hit the red carpet (in this case, light green carpet) to show their support, with Sophia Bush, Roselyn Sanchez & Jennifer Hudson as notable standouts.
Here’s more from the non-profit’s Wiki: “The Do Something Awards include both young people involved in activism and individuals from the entertainment industry who have dedicated their time to activism and charity. The top 5 Do Something Awards receive a $10,000 community grant, while the grand prize winner receives a $100,000 grant to push its community projects forward.”
We should mention that this year’s top prize went to Daniel Maree for founding Million Hoodies Movement for Justice, which is a “multiracial alliance of concerned citizens, civil society organizations, and community leaders who are fed up with the unprecedented levels of unrestrained violence directed at young people of color in this country.”
