Superman Flies Again with $125 Million Record Open

“The 3.5-day performance exceeded the extended seven-day holiday opening of 2006′s reboot Superman Returns which amounted to $108.1M during the week leading up to Independence Day.”[RottenTomatoes]

And you thought Seth Rogen actually had a chance to pull off a ‘high’ upset at the box-office this weekend! Turns out, a lot more people were excited to see the reboot of Superman than some had anticipated. You can thank Henry Cavill’s stubble for that – oh, and Christopher Nolan, too.

Man of Steel opened to a Krypton-sized $125.1 million open this weekend, topping not only a strong challenge from the star-studded This Is The End but also claiming the all-time best open for June from Toy Story 3 which set the $110 million record in 2010.

Whether or not the film zooms into The Avengers and The Dark Knight territory remains to be seen. But it did more six times what This Is The End did which garnered just $20.5 million over the weekend. Gasp, does this mean stoners have better things to do than watch Michael Cera wet himself through The Rapture?!

Russell Crowe Farted and Pooped Upon On “Man of Steel” Set

“Last week, while out on his bike, a bug trapped itself in the actor’s hoodie and bit his neck repeatedly. And now we find out his baby Superman co-stars in the new Man Of Steel film had a few nontraditional contributions to the scenes.[HuffPo]

Russell Crowe is known for a few things: having a temper, dating Meg Ryan, and refusing to smile for the entire duration of Les Miserables. But take heart, Crowe haters, the universe has exacted vengeance on the Man of Steel star.

Turns out that Crowe who plays (spoiler alert!) Kai-El’s real father in Man of Steel had to contend with infant co-stars who thought of him as their own personal toilet.

“On this movie, I got farted on first. That was okay. Pissed on, that was a little inconvenient, then the topper happened,” Crowe confessed. “Under those hot lights, it was after lunch, to be expected, and I got a handful of the essential Kryptonian material.”

A total of four babies were used during the shoot. Whether any of them were harmed or injured by the telephone-tossing Crowe remains to be determined.
