Fuckin’ Atkins

So I was strolling along the internet today, when lo and behold I came across this news snipet from Yahoo news.

It seems as though farmers as well as scientist think they can grow a POTATO with less carbs in it. Isn’t that absolutely ridiculous? Are we going to make everything with less carbs now? I don’t think that is going to slove the problem america has of people eating themselves to death. There are countries in this world where people die from not having enough food. It makes me sick. I feel like our country is so gluttonous
(hope thats how you spell it). We want everything in excess. I’m not trying to say that I have never been a glutton. I admit at times I am. But at least I make the concious effort everyday not to be. I just wanted to share.

I don't like the sound of that: "The Low Carb Six Dollar Burger."

Just a lot of words for something that is purported to be healthy.

My roommate is on the Atkins. Thing is, he was never overweight. He went on the "keep the weight off" portion of the diet and now limits carbs. He eats a lot of fast food like the low carb six dollar buger from Carl's Jr. We'll see what his health is like in a couple years.

hah, alcohol will truly kill any diet out there. I have no idea how James didn't get a belly with all the beer he drinks/drank. Jaz wasn't around, so sex was out of the question; there was no ocean, so no surfing, so the only thing I can conclude is that he really didn't drink that much. he was simply the classic "beer holder."

I'm an advocate of the low carb lifestyle! But I don't follow eating high fats with the high proteins...that'll just kill you. My diet consists of a lot of tasteless chicken breasts and a lot of plain salad. Nights of getting hammered totally kill my diet...

I'd like to try a low carb potato. I've tried low carb bread and that's just terrible tasting...actually, most things that are specifically made and labeled "low carb" taste terrible...it's more about getting cleaner whole foods in your system like brown rice, whole wheat pasta, and multi grain breads in moderation instead of buying every possibly low carb thing in the grocery store that'll keep you within a consistent diet.

""I think low-carb is here to stay," McDowell said. "But you do need some carbohydrates in your diet.""

What a smart, sneaky bastard. His potato has 13 grams of carbs, but I wonder what he'd have said if his potato had 0.

"Low-carb is here to stay. Carbs make you fat & ugly."

yeah, man, i hear you. there are all these ladies at my work who're stuck on this lowcarb diet. for all i can tell they eat too much of what is low in carbs and ultimately that works against them b/c they don't look any different.

they need to lower their eating habbits, not the amount of carbs.
