Most of you don’t even live in California, well the people who normally read this everyday. But I just recieved this email from a friend and wanted to share it with you. My friends are really big solar power geeks and yes now I have become one too.
Every little bit helps. If California can get it passed, maybe it will inspire other states to try to go solar too!

Well ... my friend aLex designs and installs solar panels for a living. He has told me that the smallest system or whatever you can get for your house is about $15,000. I'm trying to convince my dad to get some installed on his house. He told me ... "if I don't have to pay a single PG&E; bill again I'll do it! DO I get a guaruntee if the sun stops shining?" I'm still trying to find the answers to his questions.
Solar does work though. PG&E; ends up billing you yearly, and its like anywhere from $150-$200 a year. All the sun you get from the summer works to your advantage in the winter. I'm not sure of all the details and what not.
What kind of costs would be involved w/ the 2kW solar panels on new homes?
I can't believe such a panel would handle HALF of a house's power requirements. Sounds like the technology is there, but costs are probably keeping it from coming into the market, BUT once it's made a law, more companies will start building such panels and thus, force the prices to come down substantially.
THe only reason I don't see it passing is because there are too many powerful people at the top w/ ties into energy companies. Simple chain of events: We use less energy from the power companies, the companies make less revenues, then less profits & ultimately lead to the slow deterioration in their share price. These power companies are cash crops, man, but the people will always win! (at the end, that is)
