Statistics and numbers are derived from a sample: usually a very small sample from a large pool. You always have to ask: how large was the sample? how many people? how many states and countries were polled? how many males vs. females? how many people from each state, city, region or country? how many different backgrounds?and etc, etc,... Some people even go as far as asking how many hours of sleep the candidates received! So my advice to you before making statements as you did, ask: how many asians vs. whites took the test? and from the asians who did take the test, were they able to understand the questions fully(maybe they just came from asia). even for people with english as their 1st language, word problems can be hard to understand. FUnny, I was one of the only asians in an all white program but I graduated on top...! this message is not only for steve, it's to educate everybody: always always always question your sources, even the hillarious stats they give you on reputable news channels.
