Maria Sharapova: Overrated Once Again

...add Radwanska to the list after Sharapova got her game checked by a better player in the US Open 2007 3rd round. Nice to see she hit some drop shots, but still "mindless bashing"! She'll be out of the top 5 by the end of the year and top 10 by February 08. Time for Ivanovic to step up to the plate as the real hottie with real talent. Think she might just take this Open (if she can get through Venus, the real #1 pic for this Open).

Yo, she's not that hot in person. Pretty, in comparison to most other players as many have noted above. Hot is another Anna many of you don't know. Anna Ivanovic is the real deal (along with the other women mentoned in post 18). Check out Ivanovic's site sometime. Smokin' without digital enhancements.

Let's not forget that Maria's name was made by beating the most dominant woman currently playing, Serena. As Sharapova falters, so do the endorsements. Recall that Serena still holds the biggest contract for a female athelete (Nike: $60 mil.). Deserved? [Not even playing her best tennis, Serena still manages to win.] If a sports agency doesn't have your backing with a huge contract, then they know something that the rest of us don't or deny. She is OVERrated and perhaps OVER. If any of you tennis players have seen this girl play live, you know what I'm talking about.

Too many other more talented players are creeping up and honing their skills (Vladisova, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Chakvadatze...the list goes on), which Sharapova lacks. Justine and Serena will keep her in check while the others expose her one-dementional game. She's the Andy Roddick of women's tennis.

Maria is over rated, over hyped and over marketed. If you want to look at hot Russians on the tour check out Elena Dementieva and Maria Kirilenko.

For your information, the grunting thing, when they get to be really loud is a combination of the arena acoustics and overexaggerating. The grunting does help you extend more through your shots because it forces all the air out of your lungs, but when they get to be ridiculous, it's more of an intimidating factor. When Sharapova is losing she doesn't grunt as often or as loud. And that is true for a lot of women players. Because the men aren't ridiculous like the women are.

Equating grunting to good sex is like equating hand size to penis width. No correlation.

She may not look as good as Anna... but she's a much better tennis player (translation: can actually hit the ball over the net) and that's what counts, right?

At least she doesn't have a lazy eye and a hook nose.

WOW!! SOME guys are really discerning i see and not all seem to be thinking with their dicks all the time and actually have objectivity. I always thought she was not that pretty, not that beautiful but just incredibly cute but talking to some of my male friends, they seem to think she is the hottest thing since candle wax. LOL!!

I think that Anna is prettier then Maria. Maybe it's because she comes off as a more sexual/sexy person. Aren't they both Russian though?

Yeah, Anna sucks so bad I don't think she even plays anymore. I'm not all that into tennis either however those two little "cuties" do get my attention.

I don't follow tennis so I honestly don't know. If I was wrong I apologize. I was going off all the things I hear on T.V. which was probably wrong of me. Anna sucks at tennis though, doesn't she???

I don't think that I would say she "sucks at tennis" as Tammy stated considering she is ranked #1 in the world. The way she grunts when she plays sure makes me wonder what she is like in the sack, gotta be a screamer. Not HOT but definitely do-able.

Yeah hot is relative and when you are surrounded by REAL athletes who don't necessarily look all that good, I guess that could be considered hot

I think they are calling her hot because she is a young blonde; and then they are comparing her to the other women on the tour who are not as young as her or blonde.

Don't you find it ironic that the hot tennis players (Anna K and this one) suck at tennis and only get the exposure because of their looks? The ugly ones are the ones that play good.
