Saw this in Wall Street Journal’s new Weekend Edition & really enjoyed it. Scott Rudin is truly brutal. Here are a few excerpts.
He says he fired a legally blind assistant more than once “not because he was blind, but because he wasn’t good enough at the job,” then rehired him because he felt guilty seeing the man standing at the bus stop outside his window. Another former assistant says he was dismissed for bringing the wrong breakfast muffin. [WSJ Weekened Edition]

The assistants’ tasks are by turns glamorous and mundane. On occasional Saturdays, the weekend’s on-call assistant — a rotating position — has stood outside a Times Square theater, waiting with tickets in case Mr. Rudin wanted to attend a show. (If he didn’t show up, the assistant could use them). Former assistants say they have handled chores such as returning videotapes, dropping off dry-cleaning and picking up rotisserie chicken. But they can also find themselves in Hollywood meetings with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Jude Law or Jim Carrey.
After this quick read, you’ll be convinced why Scott Rudin personifies Hollywood royalty! I’m sure he has slept w/ far more hot chicks than Tom Cruise, Vin Diesel (if he weren’t gay, he would get plenty of women) & Richard Gere (manwhore of Hollywood) put together! True that’s saying a lot for a fat, bald guy, but as we all know very well @ the Bastardly, superficial love always follows the fattest wallet!
I know gentiles that are just as bad, so to insinuate that Scott Rudin is this way because he's Jewish is unacceptable. Many people are this way simply because they drink excessively or continuously.

Producers like Scott Rudin need to be terminated or eased out of the movie business, at the very least, their films do not deserve to be patronized.
Rudin, known for getting a hard-on from the emotional exploitation of young boys entering the business, has much in common with those who exploit children in foreign labor markets. The justification: paying more than they would otherwise be able to get and promising them advancement, in Rudin's case, promising them jobs in the Jewish-dominated Hollywood-based motion picture industry, of which Rudin is a tribal insider.
Responsible leaders in the movie business, which is supposed to be about fun and entertainment, should not tolerate executives that abuse 20-something workers just because it's a buyers market for talent and employees. Young assistants, as many as 250 over a five year period, are routinely invalidated, verbally abused, screamed at and terminated for trivial reasons according to a report in the Wall Street Journal of 24 September 2005. Consequently most of them enter the movie industry, not better prepared, but as damaged goods. Their "training" at Scott Rudin Productions is not training at all, but motivation to further dramatize a similar "management style" as their ex-boss, a tyrant who has been labeled, "Boss-Zilla." Many of these young assistants then treat others the way Rudin treated them, making the movie industry yet colder and less sensitive to human needs than it already is. Is it any wonder, with producers and executives such as Rudin in operation, that Hollywood's output consists of increasingly violence-oriented, crass and socially abusive fare?
Psychiatrists and other mental health experts, have determined that people in power who act like Rudin, often receive a perverted sense of sexual pleasure by dominating others. They justify this by their own rough upbringing or mentors they may have had that abused them in similar fashion. Often they attempt to justify it by money and promises of career enhancement, as mentioned above.
Just because Hollywood is a "highly competitive" business or a buyers market, moviegoers and stockholders of the major studios (and production companies that have deals with them, such as Rudin's company does with Paramount), should not condone predatory hiring practices and unjust termination policies, nor should they tolerate the behavior of psychopathic personalities in positions of power. Such people need to be identified and helped. Often they are alcoholics or covert drug users. Sometimes worse. If therapy or a change of conduct doesn't prevail, these individuals need to be terminated and, if necessary, appropriate legal (class) action needs to be taken for wrongful termination, contracts of adhesion or harassment. If the movie industry and its leaders are to be in a position to provide healthy entertainment to the public, it must weed out the few bad apples that seek to obtain productivity through concentration camp conditions.

I read the entire article/profile and didn't find Mr. Rudin to be as bad as your summary suggests. At least he had enough consciense to call the guy back from the bus stop even though he wasn't up to par for the job! Did you ever hear about the truly horrible Hollywood types who do much worse - treat people like Cinderella and even sexually harass them?! Unless Rudin is rubbing himself against these apprentices or calling them names, instead of trying to make them tough and ready for the world, I don't find him to be a mean boss. My 2 cents.

neat article i would have surely not none of if not you the hint at bastardly.a bit depressing since i don't have any of the traits refed in the article. all that and no 'hot chicks' either...ha ha....but somewhere...
