What a way to kick off the year, Reese Witherspoon! The newly single star set the style bar high with her Golden Globes appearance (right). The canary yellow gown also marked the first in a series of Nina Riccis — designed by style wunderkind Olivier Theyskens — that Witherspoon would parade across the red carpet, including the glittering gray number from the SAG Awards (left). Throughout the year, Witherspoon understood the virtue of keeping it simple, skipping the wreaths and chandeliers in favor of flattering necklines and a dazzling smile. [EW]
