The Latest Movies & How They Performed @ The Box Office

Anyone watch the boat load of flicks that released over the long weekend? I know a lot of people were watching the numbers closely, so we’ve attached a snapshot from Box Office Mojo.

After a quick glance, it’s more than obvious that The Spirit is the holiday’s biggest disappointment. So much hype & hotness was packed into the flick, so let’s hope they can recover internationally…

day the earth stood still. i preach at my kids as a form of punishment. but to pay someone to preach at me, that’s sadomasochistic. it was like mib II and jurassic park III all over again. they ought to warn you “this movie is rated ‘cp’ and may contain catholic preaching.”

If you look the curious case of BB was shown in less movie theatres than Marley and Me and it was also 3 hours long. Anyways Christmas is family time and people are gonna watch family movies. Those High School Musical movies always make a ton of money also. And from what I’ve heard a lot of people have said the movie Valkyrie was actually suprisingly good.

We saw Bedtime Stories over the weekend, and I actually liked it. But that’s because I have two children and I use natural mothering (whole foods, cloth diapers, very minimal TV, we bike to most of the places we go) so it was more of a “haha, I get to laugh at myself” moment instead of a “wow, there is some actual talent in this movie” moment.

Now…… The Day the Earth Stood Still…. this is the first time I was happy to see Keanu Reeves off himself at the end of a movie. Although I agree that there are things we (as a population) could be doing to keep things “green”, I don’t see why it was a good idea to make that whole movie about a concept that would make Al Gore cry in shame for being a human. Action would have made that movie better, much better.

I haven’t seen the others, but reviews I read on Valkyrie said Tom Cruise killed the movie everytime he opened his mouth to speak. I believe it, I can’t stand Tom Cruise or his acting ability.
