I was asking that cause I'm from Indonesia... hehe.

When random people died in Haiti, or New Orleans, or in Indonesia and Sri Lanka after the Earthquakes, plenty of people were effected, which is why charity donations were off the charts. When 9/11 happened, plenty of people were upset about it. No celebs were harmed there, were they?

And technically speaking Gary Coleman was far past his prime. Almost 25 years past his prime to be exact, and people still cared even though most of us haven't cared about him as an entertainer in years. He was still a human being and acknowledging a human being's existence is humanizing for us all.

He never really got angry about it? He was one of the most bitter people alive.

Man, RIP. What a shame this guy had to work schlub jobs all his life, his asshole parents stole every penny he made. Yet he never got really angry about it -- I'd have been cursing non-stop.

why it has to be Indonesia?

RIP Gary Coleman...

but who is he?

i didn't mean to piss anybody off or offend anyone. i was honestly stating how i felt. i know why people say "rest in peace" and all that. it was just my opinion, no need to get so riled up about it. i'm not gonna front and act like it matters when someone irrelevant dies. if a random person in indonesia or zimbabwe dies, it doesn't affect anyone. but when a legendary, talented human of the caliber of a Gary Coleman dies, we're all bummed. i believe in GOD. i believe in Karma. i beleive in being honest in life. so im not gonna fake sympathy. im not gonna fake remorse or sadness. and to Vader: do you honestly feel that John Lennon's death or Kurt Cobain's death would be the same if they died way past their peak? im just pointing out how we as humans react to celebs, these idols we've placed on pedestals. like what lazydayz said: these are people we've become accustomed to, so when they die we have to make a change and react to it. why? why do they matter? beacause they've entertained us? because they're a part of our pop-culture lexicon? IT DOESN'T MATTER AT ALL. we will all die someday. (this is just my opinion. please do not get angry by it)

"what do people get from posting RIP on a message board?"

what do you get from bitching about the people who write RIP on a message board?

Rest In Peace, Gary.

This life was not fair to you at all.

And Crackrocks is a fuckin' dick.

You don't have to know somebody to be an empathetic human being. You're supposed to be sad whenever anyone dies, especially if they die before they're supposed to.

It's always sad when a person dies young. RIP is just a sign of respect for the life lost. Get over it.

Why do you ask???

Are you worried that going out of your way to tell everyone that you don't care isn't "IN" anymore?

Just because someone posts "RIP" it doesn't mean they're crying over the loss. It's common saying. Get over yourself!!

There's this emotion a lot of people have called "empathy". Just because someone hasn't been relevant in the last 15 yrs doesn't mean you can't feel a little sad their gone. And a lot of people aren't afraid to be human in public.

And implying we're only supposed to be sad if the celebrity is famous at the time of their death??? Gary Coleman's death and Heath Ledger's death affected everyones life the same way... not at all!!! (unless you're actually their friend or family member)

But don't worry you're cool.

The Fonze was too cool too... AYYYYYEEEEEE!!!!!

Well said. I feel the same way lazydayz.

I agree with you completely. And I don't think you're any less human for feeling that way. But I think people get accustomed to seeing these celebs in the news and shit and they become a part of our lives. So when one of them dies, it's a change that people have to get used to. No, I don't feel saddened and it's not going to affect me much, but I do feel bad because I followed Gary near the end of his life and had sympathy for him cuz he was going through a shitty time.

crackrocks

what do people get from posting RIP on a message board? do you people honestly feel bad that someone who hasn't affected anyone's lives in the last 15-20 years has died? Dio? Michael J? Ana Nicole? Billy Mays? Farrah? Corey Haim?do people honestly feel saddened by their passing or is it the thing to do? to act 'human' by sharing the grieving/coping process with strangers online? get the fuck oughtta here. todd bridges could have died and it would've affected me the same. i feel nothing. i don't feel sad or mad or happy or anything. i am being completely honest and im not gonna bullshit on here. kook me/hate on me all you want

What a shameless plug from a fat attention whore. Gary hated being referred to like a child. The dude was 42 you fat faggot!
