FIFA President Sepp Blatter apologised for refereeing mistakes today to both England and Mexico due to the fact that dodgy decisions costed them so much. The 2 referees involved were sent home today.
Man, what a shit day of football. Why is it that the last set of ties of each round do this to us? The big games have disappointed hardcore, Spain marginally and unconvincingly beating Portugal 1-0, and then the tight-ass game which was Japan v Paraguay ended goalless after 2 HOURS of play, so penalties had to decide who’d go through. Both games were uninventive, drab, boring, there was a lack of chances and as is the trend with this World Cup, the defences are ALOT stronger than the attacks. Unless ofcourse, if you’re Brazil/Argentina, or you happen to be playing against North Korea. It’s annoying because it’s like both teams want it so much, that they’re not willing to go out there and be inventive as they are in their respective leagues, they just want to be careful not to make a mistake and go out. FIFA clearly needs a new motive in order to achieve these attacking tactics. We need more aswell. We have to wait 2 DAYS now until the 1st QF! fml. In other news, the biggest (or smallest) asshole of world football - SEPP BLATTER today apologised to England and Mexico as huge refereeing decisions cost them alot in the game. The mo’fo WILL finally discuss video technology in a meeting in July. So England, begin thinking-up your next excuse for 2014’s failure now!
PARAGUAY 0-0 JAPAN-(PARAGUAY WIN 5-3 ON PENS..JAPAN ELIMINATED)
Not exactly the kind of attacking intensity that you would expect from a knockout game, with both teams looking more interested in saving themselves then going forward as the best form of defence. Either team had their chances, but clear cut ones were few and far between. Extremely. DAISUKE MATSUI, who’s been amazing in all 4 of Japan’s games, smashed a crossbar with a first-time long range effort in the most notable chance. As for Paraguay, LUCAS BARRIOS turned his marker brilliantly in the box before firing against the angle with his rightfoot instead of left, which would’ve been the better option. It ended up as an easy save. ROQUE SANTA-CRUZ was used out of position and didn’t have an effect on the game, while KEISUKE HONDA was Japan’s best again, but a bit more subdued than usual. There was just no creativity and a distinct lack of imagination, even from the start names. Half chances were dotted around all over the place, but penalties looked inevitable before the start of extra-time even, towards the end of the first half.
Here’s a breakdown of the first penalty shoot-out in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. As a result, Paraguay have reached the last 8 for the first time ever. There are also now 4 South American sides in the last 8! Awesome!

no if you want to have sex with me
haha you couldn't be any further away from the truth man!
29...the average age of the USA team?
It's a sport. There's not meant to be much thinking involved. What brainy sport are you watching? Chess? At least there's some action in soccer.
I can tell! So when I go visit you in Spain I shouldn't wear my Madrid jersey? (Kaka's name/number on the back)
I agree, he's a total tool.
Ok, I love you now ;)
Fuck Madrid I'm team Barcelona
damn I'm sorry Salma I meant to write this as a reply to Dr.Victor up there, I didn't realise it came down here lol. DAVID VILLA was the best on the pitch out there last night i totally backed him and Spain for victory! I wanted them to win bc I hate CR and Cesc is my main man. Viva Espana baby!
He did good at Madrid. Led the team in scoring...
hate me all you want, he's so full of himself, first, he's not that hot and second he sucked this world cup and sucked at real madrid, ergo he sucks, in latin cause I'm cool.
i agree.
fut'bol is AWESOME!
he's a douche. The only goal he scored was against the N. Koreans. I don't even know if he'll be in the next world cup---he'll be 29! Ok-ok, he might have one more left in him.
By pointing out the inherent flaws of the game and the attendant boredom, Zee sounds like a typical American.
WTF??????????????????? "When you have torres and you're relying on Llorente, theres issues" that change was risky... and great, Torres is not at his best, he's an amazing player (and a hottie I have to say) but he couldn't make, Llorente never played in a world cup before and damn he was great!!! David Villa was awesome, is so fucking talented, don't mess with him zee!!!!!!!!!!!!
ESPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAÑAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
he's rude and doesn't know how to lose, he thinks he's a superstar and can do whatever he wants, I can't stand him
soccer is serious business, just like the interwebz!
The Armada!!!!!!!!!!!!
by 'marginally' i meant because it ended 1-0 and because the 1st half was pretty equal. I just saw the game differently man. In the first half, Spain dominated posession, but not the game. Torres and Villa had two quick shots, but Portugal actually looked decent on the break. Iker Casillas was a shambles ALL Game - I know everyone calls him World Class bc he plays for Real but yesterday, his collection and delivery was poor on more than one occasion. Ronaldo's freekicks, Tiago's shot that he had to clear off the line, Puyol's clearance from Hugo Almeida at the start of the second half which almost looped ovr him. He looked unconvincing. As did Torres - BIG time. When you have torres and you're relying on Llorente, theres issues.
Yeh, fair enough, the second half was all Spanish. But other than dominating the midfield area, they had 3-4 efforts on goal - the actual goal, then Villa's long range effort and a couple half chances for Llorente.
As for the rest of the report - i actually agree with you if you read up on it properly instead of jus looking at the 1st line.
"Spain dominated that game.. Portugal had no shots on goal in the second half and dominated possession of the ball." on which i wrote...."Soon enough, the Spanish confidence paid off. Xavi rolled in a ball to DAVID VILLA who just stayed onside and saw his first effort blocked, before looping in the rebound off the bar and celebrating wildly. I guess it was coming."
"The Spanish D turned Crissy into a non-factor all game" on which i wrote..
"Ronaldo and Portugal had all but nothing. Apart from a Red Card to rub salt into wounds."
"What this game proved is that Spain is slowly coming into full steam and peaking at the right time to make a run into the Final" on which i wrote..
"Spain still deserved their win, but like Holland, they need to start turning on the style now. Graft will beat Paraguay to the semis, but may not be enough to beat Argentina and Brazil....Spain for the Semis!!!"
I mean i accept constructive criticism from some man, but read the whole report properly before just holding onto one phrase that you disagree with.
I'm glad Spain won. I love their midfield. Maybe not the most attacking but they can pass the ball anywhere they want. You know they have some quality players when fukin Febregas can't get in to the first team!
Ronaldo barely had a touch of the ball during the second half. The only player I was impressed by for Portugal was their striker, Almeida and the coach decided to take him off :S He was the only guy bothered to attack or looked like any sort of threat in my opinion. Take off your only threat of the game and hope something works out? It's up there with Fabio Capello's retarded decisions against Germany. Take off a goal scorer when you need goals and slap Hesksey on, d'fuck!? At least put Crouch on, the guy has an awesome record, plus he does what Heskey does, but ten times better. The biggest piss take was when he decided to bring on Wright-Phillips with 5mins to go. Took the guy about half an hour to realise they needed to attack and score a few goals.
no...trust me...I've been told to relate my writing ways to that of moe and jackson. thats why theres bias, swearing, and extreme opinions.
I'm writing for moejackson people! Not the BBC or CNN! Think about it.
I think the media looked into that way too much just because it's him. He spit at the ground when the camera was a foot from his face. No big deal.
Piece of shit^
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! I'm so fucking happy!!!!!!!!!!!
totally agree, yesterday Spain was GREAT, it was an amazing match, Villa is AMAZING player, OMG what a match I enjoyed sooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!
What I remember the most from Spain vs Portugal is when Cristiano Ronaldo spitted to the camera after the game.. whoa..
Indeed it is, but zee is trying to come off as an sports reporter here and that is a bit different than celeb bashing.
this site is pretty biased on most of its articles though
I thought both games were really good games too, maybe because I come from a defender/goalkeeper background.
All of Zee's reports have been filled with fail, for a sports "reporter" he has way to much bias.
ZEE -
Re: the Spain v. Portugal game : What the hell are you talking about? "marginally and unconvincingly" ? Are you serious..?
Spain dominated that game.. Portugal had no shots on goal in the second half and dominated possession of the ball. The Spanish D turned Crissy into a non-factor all game..Portugal, coming into the game, had a hellacious D who hadn't been scored on in this Cup and a sick goalie who thanks to his skill kept the game from being a 4-0 shellacking.
What this game proved is that Spain is slowly coming into full steam and peaking at the right time to make a run into the Final and that David Villa is a fucking BEAST. I mean did you see that goal ? Obscene the talent on that kid..
I dunno man, this report...EPIC FAIL
DOOM HAS SHREDDED ZEE
^ simpleton
Hahahahahahaha. No. Fuck you.
Yay for España! I wanted them to win for my lady Salma. Ganaron para ti mi amor!
Enough of soccer! It's a game only simpletons are entertained by.
