Alessandra Ambrosio & Shenae Grimes: David LaChapelle’s L.A. Exhibition

These were snapped earlier this week (Tuesday, Sept 27) as Alessandra Ambrosio, along with her lucky-bastard-hubby Jamie Mazur, and “90210” star Shenae Grimes hit up the star studded “Negative Currency” & “Recollections in America” exhibition openings put on my famed fashion photographer & artist David LaChapelle. Most recently he was in the news for filing a $1 million lawsuit against Rihanna for copying his ideas used in her “S&M” music video. Wonder who she’s copying for her latest video where she’s running around topless on a farm in Ireland?

Anyway, since we dig art & photography, I figure we’d shed more light on D. LaChapelle’s exhibition which was held at the Prism Gallery in Los Angeles. An exhibition press release explains the process used in “Negative Currency”:

In the series Negative Currency, LaChapelle revives a developing process he experimented with in 1990. Using the enlarger in a darkroom, LaChapelle used dollar bills in the place of a negative, and the resulting effect was a pink print that shows both sides of the currency at once. Rendering the image of the actual physical currency as a virtual negativ…e, he is making a direct correlation to the economic collapse based on false commodities and false capital. [Source]
