"The Avengers" Opens to a Staggering $200 MIllion - The BIGGEST Opening of ALL TIME!

After the disaster that was John Carter, you can bet the folks at Disney are breathing heavy sighs of relief that their latest superhero celluloid enterprise went off as well as could possibly be expected. For those who were hoping that this summer's movie season would be the end of the superhero films that have been flying out of studios in the last five years, guess again: this mega success of The Avengers means we're looking at at least another three to five years of Robert Downey as Iron Man.
And for those keeping tally, the film has grossed $641.8 million since opening internationally on April 25.

I'm surprised they managed to pull it off. 10 times out of 10 when you have 349834 people in a movie it always ends up failing. Take for instance Valentines Day, New Years Eve,etc.
This movie was actually able to give a good story, to develop each character, and give each one of them time to shine. Hulk brought the LULS and Ironman stole every scene he was in. I loved this movie ^_^ I thought it was going to fail big time, not because of it being bad, but because of the high expectations people had for this movie. It rose to the challenge and then made a bitch out of it.
When it was first announced my friend and I were like "It has the chance to be epic, but it'll probably fail" I was wrong :(
My only complaint was the black widow. Apparently she was either thrown in their to cater to femanazis or be eye candy for the nerds..Either way she was just trying too hard to be hot. It was cheesy as fuck.

Well played Marvel! Well played.
It really was a good superhero movie. Much better than I thought it would be after Thor. Robert Downy Jr. made the movie fun but even the others all had some good lines and some good scenes.

The Avengers was so absolutely amazing, one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. I would have easily paid double to see it. I am going again sometime this week.
Joss Whedon is a fantastic director and he should be the only one ever allowed to make Marvel movies again. Now if we can get him to fix the mess that is The Transformers. Joss Whedon is what Michael Bay wishes he was.
Robert Downey Jr just killed it as usual and everyone was great. I had no idea Cobie Smulders had that level of sexiness in her. Kudos. Mark Ruffalo did a great job as The Hulk. The Hulk was pretty hilarious.
I saw it in 3D this time, I am thinking IMAX the next time. Can I order the DVD yet?
Puny god. lol

The Dark Knight Rises needs to kick its marketing campaign into full gear to make a run at The Avengers.

Loved the movie. I echo the point that this sort of movie is very easily done badly, so Joss Whedon really killed it. It's an above average movie. However, it's easily one of the most entertaining movies that we've seen in a really long time.
Definitely enjoyed how everyone, even Tom Hiddleston as Loki had their own moment and monologue to shine in, so no one was overbearing. If anyone is wondering, there might be some sequels in the middle, but Iron Man 3 is supposedly going to be part 1 of the next chapter, with the 2nd part as Avengers 2. And Joss has the option of doing A2. And somehow Ruffalo is signed for up to 6 more Hulk movies.
