One of today’s featured films at the 65th Cannes Film Festival is the Walter Salles-directed “On The Road,” starring a deep cast including Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Sam Riley & Garret Hedlund. The film is based on the Jack Kerouac novel of the same name. As some of you might remember Kirsten Dunst won the Best Actress award at Cannes last year for her work in “Melancholia” by controversial director Lars von Trier (awesome flick, by the way), so let’s see how things go this time around.
Expect to see a very glamorous red carpet event in a few hours. In the meantime, here’s more info about the film, including a few stills & the trailer.
Just after his father’s death, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a devastatingly charming ex-con, married to the very liberated and seductive Marylou. Sal and Dean bond instantly. Determined not to get locked in to a constricted life, the two friends cut their ties and take to the road with Marylou. Thirsting for freedom, the three young people head off in search of the world, of other encounters, and of themselves. [Source]
