Elsa Pataky Definitely Needs To Reassess The Whole Nanny Thing…

[This post assumes that chick in the Elsa Pataky pics is her nanny (doubtful, but definitely possible!).]

If you take Arnold Schwarzenegger’s shady situation into consideration, it doesn’t really matter if you choose a nanny who’s really hot or ugly b/c apparently that dude would sleep with anyone, just as long as it was convenient, but on average, I think it’s safe to assume that a hotter nanny will increase the risk of getting screwed in the infidelity department.

Now, Chris Hemsworth is a great guy and all, but let’s face it, every dude gets weak from time to time & if the stars align perfectly (i.e. Chris & Elsa have a fight, the nanny is a supermodel trying to make ends meet, Chris comes home from a long shitty day & Elsa’s out shopping…blah, blah, blah).

Trailer Watch: Gerard Butler in “Chasing Mavericks”

300 star Gerard Butler is back in ab-tastic form in the his new surfer flick, <>Chasing Mavericks, where he plays a California surfing legend Frosty Hesson (based on the real life surfing legend, Jay Moriarty . . . whose name sounds like a villain in a Sherlock Holmes novel, right?). The movie tells the tale of how Hesson helps a 15-year-old surfer named Jay to conquer one of the world’s biggest waves known as the Mavericks surfer break. Like all movies, this too shall show that doing something great is never easy.

Also co-starring are Elisabeth Shue, Abigail Spencer, Taylor Handley, Scott Eastwood and Leven Rambin. Chasing Mavericks opens October 26.

Micaela Schaefer Helps Unveil Formula 1 Driver Sebastian Vettel’s Wax Figure

Is there any type of marketing that Micaela Schaefer won’t do? From fashion shows to soccer tournaments to movie premieres, I gotta admit, this woman has one of the hottest categories on the site. I don’t know if “hottest” is the right word to describe her photos, but she definitely catches the eye, to say the least.

For those of you bastards who need a Monday Afternoon Pick-me-up, definitely hit up Micaela’s category.

These latest photos were snapped on Friday (July 27) as Micaela unveiled the wax figure of Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel at Madame Tussauds in Berlin.

Dreams of a Life: Film Review

Visit the film’s official website!

I’ll be honest: this is a movie I know that almost none of you reading this will ever watch. It isn’t a Hollywood blockbuster, doesn’t star any big marquee names, is a British docudrama, and has nothing to do with a Marvel comic book superhero. The fact that it’s also about a young black woman also means it has the cards stacked against it.

All of which is a shame. Dreams of a Life is a hauntingly poetic movie which deserves (in fact, demands) to be seen by everyone on Earth. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but really, it isn’t.

Forget the qualifiers of race, gender, and nationality. Forget the fact that at the core of the film is a story that makes you cringe and cry at the same time. Forget the fact that it’s a movie, actually. This is a story that I think everyone that has ever existed and ever dreamt about anything has feared would happen to them: that they might vanish one day and nobody would notice. Not for a day, a month, or a year. Or maybe even longer.

The truly horrific part is that this movie is based on a true story: a 38-year-old black woman named Joyce Vincent (Zawe Ashton) goes missing one day and nobody finds her for three years, despite the fact that she was found in her apartment which was located above a busy shopping center, untouched and unmoved. She had spirit, talent, and vitality. And beauty. Lots of it. How, then, could no one have sought her out for so long?

The movie tells the story of Joyce with part reenactment and part documentary style interviews with those who knew and loved her. The thing that will amaze you most of all is how the movie paints life as utterly fleeting - so fleeting, perhaps, that you are left wondering if we are anything more than a dusting of carbon and stardust whose legacy is really just an imprint in the twilight of nothingness. This is existential cinema at its most bold and beautiful.

If you’re lucky enough to have a theater nearby that is playing this hidden gem of a movie, run to see it. You won’t be the same after.

NBC Garners Highest Rated Summer Olympics Opener EVER

The broadcast averaged 40.7 million viewers, which tops the 1996 Atlanta games (39.8) for the largest Summer Olympics opening ceremony in history.”[THR]

NBC is back on top! At least when it comes to the Summer Olympics, that is. Not since the heyday of Seinfeld, Friends, and Will & Grace has the peacock network seen numbers like this (and that’s with the tape delay and tons of illegal internet feeds): a total of 40.7 million Americans watched the opening ceremony in London this weekend, just slightly higher than the 34.9 million that tuned in for the Beijing games back in 2008.

With the American athletes in competitive standing thus far (I’m talking to you, Kevin Durant), you can bet that these games are going to be ratings winner for NBC all summer long. By the way, who won the stand off between Voldemort and Mary Poppins?

“The Dark Knight Rises” Drops 60%, But Is Still A Blockbuster

Poor Ben Stiller. And Jonah Hill. And Vince Vaughn (I mean, really: Vince Vaughn!). And that hilarious British dude in The Watch. Between the four of them, they should have known that no one is interesting in seeing them take on an alien invader that kills Costco employees when Batman has to contend with Bane, Catwoman, and an existential crisis.

So the box office augurs were right: The Watch is a mega bomb, debuting in third place with a puny $13 million, while The Dark Knight Rises is a mega hit, picking up another $64.1 million and earning a total of $289.1 million domestically since its release ten days ago. This is on top of an overseas gross of $248.2 million, which means it will finish somewhere in the neighborhood of $900 million and $1 billion. Take that, Avatar!

It still hasn’t performed up to par with the last Batman movie and is certainly nowhere near what The Avengers did a couple of months ago, but studios are fine with it since there has been so much negative publicity surrounding the movie since the shooting in Colorado.

The big dance movie that was also among this week’s new releases, Step Up Revolution, took in a so-so $11.8 million. This just might spell the end of the franchise since it seems the announcement of the new cast of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars met with more buzz and excitement than this latest ‘hotties that dance topless’ movie. Well, there’s always Bollywood.

This weekend’s top five releases were as follows;

1. The Dark Knight Rises – $64.1 million
2. Ice Age: Continental Drift – $13.3 million
3. The Watch – $13.0 million
4. Step Up Revolution – $11.8 million
5. Ted – $7.4 million
