The paparazzi were busy yesterday as a bunch of ladies were out and about in Los Angeles, most doing nothing special, and getting their photo taken for your viewing. Above we have Cassie Scerbo visiting Social Hill held at the Social Hill showroom, Christian Serratos outside a club in Beverly Hills, Jessica Alba leaving Sushi Park, and Jessica Hall leaving a party in Hollywood. Below we have Joanna Krupa at the W Hotel in Hollywood, Lana Del Rey posing for photographs beside her gold SL Mercedes-Benz outside a Taco Bell, Rose McGowan heads for lunch in Beverly Hills, and Sophia Bush seen leaving her yoga class in Beverly Hills.

Nylon Magazine had a party last night to celebrate the launch of their August 2012 issue featuring Twilight’s Ashley Greene. As we’ll mention once again, Ashley stars as Alice Cullen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 set to hit theaters this November. Also in attendance was her Twilight co-star Christian Serratos who stars as Angela Weber. The new issue of Nylon Magazine with Ashley Greene is in stores now.
“It’s not my cup of tea. I loved it and hated it. It was a great job. I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.”[THR]
64-year-old rocker Steven Tyler (really, he’s only 64?!?) told The Hollywood Reporter that the only reason he took the gig hosting the now hasbeen show called American Idol (sorry, Seacrest) was because of the big, fact paycheck and the fact that it let him escape the increasingly nasty fights between his Aerosmith bandmates. Tyler also had to grapple with working on the latest Aerosmith album, Music From Another Planet as well as the group’s Global Warming Tour which is currently making its way across the States.
It also probably didn’t help that a recent poll also revealed that 79% of loyal Idol watchers want Simon Cowell back. Tell that to Mariah Carey.
There are movies about men (actually, most movies are about those of us with a “Y” chromosome) and then there are movies about what it means to “be a man”, specifically how your body and your ability to relate to the opposite sex is tied to your masculinity. Unfortunately for the makers behind The Babymakers, “being a man” ends up feeling like something you’d just rather not be.
The movie starts off with a young-ish couple Tommy and Audrey (played by Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn) who are trying to have a baby. Nothing seems to be working and Tommy’s buds use his serial misfires as the source of all kinds of bad sex jokes lame penis puns.
Turns out, Tommy has an ultra-low sperm count, which for him is nothing short of a death sentence. He’d really rather be dead than unable to impregnate his wife. He’d rather be a eunuch. Or gay. Or a woman. But a man who can’t plant his seed inside his beloved to give birth to another being is just the worst of The Worst. (And in case you’re wondering, no, they don’t discuss adoption in the movie because this is not about his desire to have kids; it’s about his desire to have the ability to have kids. There’s a huge chasm between the two - ask the Duggar family of Arkansas).
I wish I could say that there was something remotely funny or even accidentally redeeming about this movie, but I cannot. It goes straight for the groin and then jumps down into the pants and out to the toilet bowl and off into the sewer. I can’t recall a movie where we seen where the male lead spends more time in his bedroom trying to masturbate than talking to the female star. It’s gross and juvenile and mostly repugnant in ways that you can’t believe any adult filmmaker would ever want to subject other adults to.
Imagine the worst Adam Sandler movie you’ve ever seen. I mean ever. (And, boy, have there been some doozies). Now imagine a movie worse than that. This is the hapless, mirthless, and entirely without a single laugh or ounce of joy disaster that is The Babymakers.
It’s a shame that two such talented actors were tricked into starring in this disaster. But on the upside it sheds light on precisely the type of people we don’t want reproducing at any point in human history. If the planet is to be populated with the progeny of couples like Audrey and Tommy, then may the wildebeests wipe us out: Every. Last. One.
Olympic history was made last night. United States swimmer Michael Phelps won his 19th Olympic medal, breaking a record that was set nearly 60 years ago by Soviet Union gymnast Larisa Latynina. It didn’t come to Phelps as easy as most thought would happen. Most thought that Phelps would have two easy gold medals in the events that he was participating that day in but South African swimmer Chad le Clos beat Phelps in the 200m butterfly by a mere .05 seconds. The ironic part of that whole event is that 20-year-old le Clos is a swimmer who sees Phelps as his hero, dating back to the 2004 Olympics in Athens when a young le Clos was inspired to swim because of Phelps. Silver is definitely a disappointment for Phelps (only his second) but he had a chance to redeem himself later last night where he participated as the anchor for the US in the 4×200 relay event.
This time there was little doubt that the United States team would take gold, as Phelps would cruise to victory knowing that he was making history. By medal count, Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time but that’s a whole other debate in itself. Right now Michael Phelps can go celebrate (we all know how he’ll be doing that) and bask in the moment. By the way, he still has three more events where he can win a medal so stay tuned. Speaking of medals, if you haven’t been paying close attention to the Olympics here are the countries with the most medals as of 8:30am ET in the US.
